Embedded video not playable
-
It seems I can no longer play embedded videos (at least those from YouTube). The placeholder image is loaded, but the element is not active, I cannot click to start playing.
Video play itself works for all formats (tested via https://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html), and if I get the video link from the page source and enter it in the address bar, it works. Just not embedded (tested, e.g., on gamingonlinux.com and gog.com)
I tried both 1.15.1130.3 and 1.15.1125.3 (the two that are in the repository).

Videos play fine. It might be DRM. Check the test page bellow:
In case you are not able to reproduce any videos, install Widevine script.
-
Installed widevine, and now can play the videos from castlabs.
The embedded YT videos still don't work.
Some new 'feature' of chrome regarding cross-site links/data? -
I confirm this problem appears after the update Chromium engine
vivaldi-snapshot 1.15.1130.3
archlinux x86_64 -
@der_pit Glad you can now play the videos.
I will tag your topic as resolved. -

In case of doubt, please read this article, before reporting a bug: https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/

Please check your extensions and privacy settings, may be too restrictive.
No settings have been changed by me.
No new extensions have been installed.
The problem occurred immediately after the update Chromium engineP.S> Disabling all extensions does not change the situation

@haron-prime We are getting nowhere.
You seem to be sure the issue started after the Chromium, then report a bug. Here is the link again https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/ -
I found the cause of the problem
This parameter #enable-site-per-process in vivaldi://flags
It was enabled, but on older versions did not create problems.
The problem only appeared after the update. Disabling solves the problem. -
Congrats. Hope your solution applies to the other user.
-
i had exactly the same problem with the latest snapshot (prior to todays) in mint 18.3
wasnt restricted to just youtube videos, was any embedded media, instagram posts, twitter tweets, none could be interacted with..
testing fix now..
-
youtube fixed.
will check instagram, twitter etc as i come to them

If I remember correct, I activated it in the context of the Meltdown/Spectre vulnerabilities, was suggested in some security group.
-
@der_pit i definitely never activated it.
it somehow got activated by itself in the previous snapshot update
the problem started immediately after updating.
(i actually reported this a few days ago in the "video problems" thread https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/200481 - i only discovered later it wasnt restricted to embedded youtube but ALL offsite embedded media)
