Open link in a new tab?
-
How do I set clicked links to be opened in a new tab by default?
-
@rafiki
For a normal left click you can't as far as I know but middle clicking the link or Ctrl+left clicking does what you want
-
@zaibon Thank you. Yes, that works. For me, it would be nice to have the option to directly open in a new tab too. I'll add a feature request.
-
@rafiki Mouse gestures can also be made to do what you want.
-
Thanks @Pesala . I'll look into that. I've never investigated mouse gestures.
-
Just came to my mind as I read your feature request - you want to open a link in a new tab and directly switch to it? Than the corret keyboard mouse combination is of course "Shift+left clicking" said link.
-
Yes, I am doing that. My feature request should have the words 'by default'.

I just found the 'Tap to Tab' extension which does exactly what I want. Double-click a link and it opens in a new tab either with focus or in the background.

.. perhaps you tell us a little bit more about this extenson? name and whre to get? with tab to tab in chrome webstore I had no success.
-
It is the Tap to Tab in the Chrome store. You need to double-click the link. A single click opens it in the current tab.
-
@rafiki there is no extension named "Tab to Tab" as I wrote: how is the correct name?
-
@magyarvagyok Tap to Tab is what was written.
-
@pesala thanks, I found it with "em_te" now. take a look at it.

Default mouse gesture does it very nicely. Just drag a link downwards a bit with right mouse button. When you release the button, link opens in a new tab. It can be done very quickly when you get used to it. When you're not clicking a link, the same gesture just opens a new tab.
