Problems with libffmpeg on Fedora since V1.14
-
I have been using the proprietary codes from Chromium with the trick outlined in this post: HTML5 Problems on Fedora 27 /opt/vivaldi/lib/libffmpeg.so is a hard link to the ffmpeg provided by Chromium.
Unfortunately, since Vivaldi 1.14 came out, it has stopped working. None of the alternative methods work. Running vivaldi under strace shows that it is indeed opening the right library:
openat(AT_FDCWD, "/opt/vivaldi/lib/libffmpeg.so", O_RDONLY|O_CLOEXEC) = 3
I have triple-checked it is the right one. It is a 3.4 MB file, and a copy exists at $HOME/.local/lib/vivaldi/libffmpeg.so
I installed it from the Vivaldi repo. http://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/rpm/x86_64
Any idea on how to fix it?

Thank you very much! That did it.
So, I guess that the problem was that my solution worked, until the Chromium version was changed, and everything blew up.
Do you know if I will have to keep updating the extra ffmpeg? It is OK to do it every now and then, but it would be nicer if the rpm came already fully packaged.
