Bookmarks added to main menu – Vivaldi Browser Snapshot 1.15.1111.3
-
@xyzzy: Win7 64 bits. Panel is disappearing when file in downloading.
-
@komposten: Yup! Thanks! . . . However . . . I never intend to offend you or anybody, I forgot to mention that the function keys are inconvenient on Mac. 1) You have to press the "fn" key and the F2 key at the same time; 2) The location of the "fn" key differs between the desktop and laptop keyboards! . . . For these reasons, I almost never use function keys and I'm frustrated when I'm forced to use them.
I wish all shortcuts were composed only of the standard ASCII character keys plus Control, Alt, Shift, and Escape. They are all reachable from the home position and vary less widely among different keyboards.
-
Oh, and there is a very strong reason against customizing shortcut keys, I forgot to mention. I have to erase my profiles from time to time (say once in half a year) to cope with obscure bugs. Once a crash of Vivaldi erased it for some reason. And because I don't have to spend time to try to restore config files one by one, I just give up my settings and start from a fresh profile. For this reason, I'm extremely reluctant to customize Vivaldi; I don't want to redo all my configurations. All in all, Vivaldi is the best browser (to me) out of the box without customizations.

@xyzzy: I have the same issue. And a work around is to random hide/show the download Panel. Sometimes it became empty and nothing shown.
-
@cqoicebordel: You mean we have to click on them? Oh... No...
-
@zaibon: S/he did not mean this. The panel suddenly became empty actually.
-
@ryofurue It's similar on my laptop (have to press Fn+F2), but I can press Fn first, release it, then press F2. So it's not that big of a deal. But yeah, I understand your frustration with it.
-
@liminggang: Nah,you just pulled the internal download page ( chrome://downloads/ )which works onto the side panel.
-
@g_bartsch: Have you reported a bug on this? If not please do
-
I use Startup with Last Session.
Every time I restart Vivaldi, the order of the tabs have changed, and the order within grouped, tiled tabs have also changed. Really annoying.
Has been like this for numerous snapshots, but this last one seems to be worse than before.Win7x64 Vx64
EDIT:
If I move tabs, the order within grouped, tiled tabs are also changed! -
@neltherion: Indeed. And it's a click too much
-
@cqoicebordel What benefits does the menu bar have?
- It currently does not work properly with the mouse
- It is completely broken with the keyboard
- It takes up precious vertical space
- The menu button allows you to navigate freely between menus with the mouse or keyboard cursor keys
The bug is very old and often complained about, but why when there are few advantages even if it works perfectly.
-
If bookmarks are sorted manually, or by some other order, the menu always sorts them alphabetically. Reported as:
(VB-38181) Bookmarks Menu Sorted Alphabetically Ignoring Manual Setting

@gwen-dragon Vote for this newly added Feature Request: Limit the Width of Bookmark Menu Folders
-
First, I think Vivaldi is a great browser! Great!
It could use a 'make new folder' feature when the little add bookmark box comes up, but it is no big deal. -
@theotter
You might want to upvote the feature request for this function so maybe we'll get this at some point: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/24531/create-new-folder-when-bookmarking-page -
This build is somehow buggy on Facebook. The loading of news is longer, it is rolling beyond eyes. Clicking on comments will scroll page to random totally different post, and so on. And it is leaking memory, I'm noticed this few builds ago. Happens on Win7 and Win10.
-
I was on holiday during the last couple of snapshots, and when I tried to find the window background customisation to test it doesn't appear for me in this build! There's nothing in the settings.
-
@mossman
Should be in settings/themes, but there is nothing. Seems like this feature was removed in the latest snapshot.edit: my fault, it should be in vivaldi://settings/appearance/, if you don't see it that's probably a bug
-
@pesala: Because using the V menu uses more clicks
I want Vivaldi to be exactly like every other app on my machine. I use native decoration, and the menu bar. That way, my muscle memory works across the whole system, and not one app at a time.Yes, the bug is very old, and yes, it should have been fixed a long time ago. That's why I'm still pushing for it
