Title of Notes Should Use First Line Only
-
Just a minor thing - creating new/migrating all our notes from OneNote/SimpleNote/TickTick etc it would be great to have the notes app not assume everything 120 chars from start is the name of note ? Just the 1st line ? Have to keep renaming (no biggie, but just a suggestion)

Just the first line of text of a note would be enough for titling.

How about renaming your post title to something like
Notes naming during import
or something, as it currently suggests that renaming isn't possible at all -
@jacekn well, as it stands you can't rename notes. It just picks the first hundred characters or so, as stated in the original request. Yes, you can change this text to change the displayed name, but it's not really proper naming.

I have improved the thread title. Whether they are imported, created, or copied from selected text, if they are more than one paragraph, the first line should be used as the default title.
The titles can easily be edited later if wanted.

I dont get it....renaming is of course possible after note is created, but then I am with SS (snapshot)

@pesala Any way we can see history of changes here? I bet there is, but it was not too obvious.

@rojaviv You can rename notes by clicking the note title. However, even if the note contains a separate paragraph as the first line, which could be used as the note title, the entire note is used by default when you create the note.
Using the first line of the note automatically would not be useful in many cases.
The edit history cannot be seen as far as I know, not even by moderators. If you want to edit your own posts you can, if you think my edit does describe what you are requesting.

I see why notes uses the entire first line as name - when we insert a note, it includes everything, even the renamed title for the note which we dont actually need - so if they do implement title as a separate entity, it should not be included when pasting.
Update - nm, I see they are one step ahead of me. It HAS been impl this way !!
