Nice feature!
Here my background image :

Drag and drop image in the settings window would be nice too
-
Vivaldi is better from version to version. Saving setting of capture function - great. And how about to add little editor to captured screen to allow draw on it - mark same area, write text on it before save? That would be great!
Thanks for your hard work so far You are awesome! -
I think it is time to stop inventing features for a month-two and aim all resources to just fixing bugs.
-
The onbeforeunload fix seems to work but a bit buggy.
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/23846/onbeforeunload-handling-on-tab-close-broken-page-is-unloaded-no-way-to-recover
go the link shown in the thread to test it, close the new tab, a requester to stay or leave pops up, if I choose stay, sometimes the tab disappears anyway and isn't recreated until I click some of the other tabs.
In any case it is better than before. -
There are some funny Speed Dial regressions...
-
@gwen-dragon thanks, I could't say it better.
As we had a lot of problems with Chromium 64.0.3282.86 and some users asked,
how to check to which Chromium version will Vivaldi be updated I just wanted to
remind them to run a backup before install.
In Germany we say:
Wer nicht sichert zur rechten Zeit,
der muss nehmen was übrig bleibt.mf
-
@enc0re That's not ever likely to happen. The time to focus on fixing bugs is after the release of RC1. At other times feature and bug fixing go hand-in-hand.
As usual, there are a lot more bug and regression fixes than new features.
-
There should be an option of changing the window buttons (minimize, maximize). With the use of the background image they become practically invisible especially when a darkish image is used and 'blend...' is checked!
-
@pesala But unfortunately there's a habit of pushing RC1, releasing RC2 with 2 or 3 bug fixes and pushing it as a Stable release all in a matter of about 3 or 4 days all without a consideration for additional RCs or having any significant testing period.
-
[Regression] Some pages never stop loading when webRequest extensions are installed VB-37486
Thank you, guys. This was one major issue. Browsing is fun again
-
@pesala That's wrong view. Time to focus on fixing bugs should be Before RC1 and not after. There must be some schedule and at some time point before coming RC1, there should be freeze for inventing new things, and keep focusing only for bugfixing, to provide as much as possible correct build which might be as final version. Your view doesn't make sense. Just have a look at Win10 Insider program.
-
@enc0re It is not a view. It is how the Vivaldi developers work. They don't add features during the RC stage. It is brief, but the Snapshot stage is typically six weeks. They are always fixing bugs while working on other things.

People actually use this? -
@stardust not me, another useless feature for me
-
@stardust I do now. I think it looks quite nice.

@ian-coog It is pretty useless in terms of functionality, but it's eye candy. Eye candy can be good, for one it can help to attract new users, which is always a good thing. This themeing addition also adds some level of parity between chrome and firefox and how their themes work, which again is good for transitioning new users.
-
@zandathrax: Widewine will be downloaded after first start on a fresh install, try restarting.

Window Background Image
People actually use this?I found it nice, I at no time thought of having this in Vivaldi, but now I have this function and I liked it, I'm using it, it reminds me of Firefox with its themes, I like it!
I think it was not a function that delayed development, so much so that it had several fixes in that snapshot.
To sum up: The user is not obliged to use the function, if a person does not like it, forget it there in the settings, I mostly moved to Vivaldi because of the settings and personalization, so for me it is having everything I want, requests in the forum this is for this, I think this fits the term of some request here in the forum - More customization functions
Vivaldi becomes unique to me for being like that, listening to the community, adding features, fixing errors, and after that everything the browser is still very fast! Here it's flying low, I think about 80% of the errors I see complaining users never affect me, so again, for me it's not a useless resource, it's more of a customization option. -
This is so good I may start crying from happiness! Thank you Vivaldi team, this is a great option I didn't even knew I wanted so badly.

Something is broken in Facebook in this snapshot. Clicking an image doesn't open the image in its full size but rather the image gets blurry and a spinning circle spins endlessly in the center of the image.
