Unwanted Background App - How to remove?
Ribel last edited by Gwen-Dragon
When I open Tools->Task Manager I see in the tasks a background app that I don't have memory of interacting with.
The task is:
Background App: 4 Pics, 1 Word Tagalog
It stays there silently.
Only when I close the browser the app pops a message that it crashed. And that's it.
How can I remove it?
Have you installed an extension or a web panel to translate Tagalog?
@pesala No, there is no icon visible for this app.
I thought it comes from Facebook app so I removed it from the web panel, but with no success.
Is there a way to see where is this app installed?
I can't see such option in the Task manager.
@ribel Sounds like adware from some app you installed or site you went to. Have you checked your control panel/programs and features to see if it shows as installed? Are you perhaps Filipino? Have you installed a Tagalog translator?
No I am not Filipino. I don't have this translator installed.
I haven't installed any app or it may slip unnoticed.
But is there a way to track down where is this in Vivaldi, and remove it?
It looks harmless, just annoying pop ups every time I close Vivaldi or end it from the Task manager.

Out of curiosity, if you navigate: Tools > Extensions, is there anything in that list that might be involved/installed like this (on the odd chance that there's an extension without an icon in Vivaldi's extension icon bar)?

Do you see it / can you remove it by going to vivaldi://apps?
@lonm Thank you!
That's what I needed!
Obviously this is an app that is imported from Chrome and stayed hidden along with other imported apps.
Thanks to all participants for your suggestions!
@blackbird : It wasn't listed in Extensions. That is why I was confused how to remove it.
