How to make thumbnais on express-panel smaller in size?
-
Hi everyone.
Thumbnails on the express panels are too big and only 5 coumns are availiable, are there any ways to make more columns (7 at least) or maybe make thumbnais smaller in such a way that would make more thumbnails on a single screen without scrolling down? -
@singen Thumbnails in Speed Dial cannot be re-sized by any supported method (except to zoom the entire UI) at present. I believe there are some modifications that can be made to CSS that can do it for you (see the Customization Category for how to modify CSS) but CSS modifications have to be backed up and re-applied with each update. I personally don't use them.

@Ayespy Looks like somebody could use some coffee, maybe? We already are in the "Customization Category"...

The number of columns depends on your browser's UI scaling (as @Ayespy mentioned) and on your screen's resolution. For example, on my monitor (Full HD) I see 7 columns when the browser's window is maximized (Settings: Appearance > UI zoom @ 100% / Start Page > Speed Dial > Maximum Columns > None).
I just looked into the Speed Dial's code. You could theoretically tweak the code to change the size / position / shape (or whichever parameter you like) of the Speed Dial items, but you would have to set each item's position manually - which seems like a tremendous task (unless you have only a few items and you're not adding/changing them too often). Moreover, you would have to re-apply your tweaks with each update, as @Ayespy said.
I think that a more appropriate category for this is actually the Feature Request. (Sorry, I wish I had a better solution for you, but it's not that easy )

it works, I already use it and it's part of my custom css pack. -

@ian-coog this works fine, thanks.
It would be cool though if developers add such a simple and straitforward feature in settings -
@singen I'm waiting it since day 1, don't hold your breath but there's always hope
