Updating of webmail.vivaldi.net
-
Our community recently tipped over the 200,000 member mark and over the past couple of months, we’ve worked hard to bring you a better experience on all our community services.
Our email service in particular has grown immensely and we’ve done some work to make it more stable and reliable.
In addition to improving our mail servers’ infrastructure, we’ll be making a change to the portals we use to access vivaldi.net email accounts. Until now, we’ve had two different portals to access vivaldi.net emails. By the end of March 2018, we will upgrade to using just one service - Roundcube on mail.vivaldi.net. This will provide you - our users - with the functionality you’ve come to expect from us as well as bring with it a smoother and faster service.
Those of you that have been using webmail.vivaldi.net, will need to adjust to the new service, but we are confident that this will be a minor inconvenience compared to the many benefits you’ll get.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

@olgaa I logged in without issues, and all of my emails are there. Here's hoping the transition is as smooth for everyone.
-
Smooth for me. Will there be a vivaldi calendar?
-
@olgaa Wait, so the new webmail address is being replaced by the old one, and soon there's a new interface and service on it?
@Pesala Are you speaking of mail.vivaldi.net? Because that's currently just the old link with the old interface and we could always log in and view our emails there. There hasn't been a transition yet.
-
@luetage and everybody else
webmail.vivaldi.com is going down, so that interface will be completely dead.
mail.vivaldi.com will be the only interface and they will try to add the features that exist in webmail but not in mail as calendar. If the UI will change I don't know.
The servers the mails are in will also be upgraded, but the change on the interface doesn't affect it. You will not lose any emails because webmail.vivaldi.com is going offline, that's just an interface and your mails are still on the server.

I wasn't afraid of that, as said, all emails are accessible on both sites as long as I can remember. I was just confused because Pesala said his transition was smooth. Let's see what happens in a few weeks.

Someone on the vivaldi discord just brought up the fact that you offer online previews for
.doc
uments (which is quite a nice safety feature for untrusted attachements). This is usable on the old web interface but there doesn't appear to be support for this on the new interface. -
@lonm I'm confused, is the old interface now the new interface, or was the old interface the new interface all along? ^^
-
@olgaa I have always used webmail.vivaldi.net - yesterday I have tried mail.vivaldi.net - the first connection was fine - forgetting the awful UI - but since then I cannot access it anymore, now I get a "your session is expired or invalid" message.
-
@TalGarik If you see the "your session is expired or invalid" error message, please delete Vivaldi mail related cookies from the browser. On Vivaldi, you can do it by following the instructions in the video on our help page: https://help.vivaldi.com/article/registration-and-log-in-issues/.

@luetage
Though, technically Roundcube has been around for longer, we have added new features to it. For example, calendar and encryption. -
i have already a vivaldi email account and i like the service. but the roundcube UI screams late 90's
i hope you change the UI a lot.also it's perfect with mail.vivaldi.net to select the emails and at the same time to read them on the side.
that was also the case with my opera mail and now after years even microsofts outlook webmail took over this scheme. so implement this to mail.vivaldi.neti hope you improve rouncube a lot or work with
-
i meant it's perfect to also webmail.vivaldi.net to select the emails and at the same time to read them on the side. hope you implement this to mail.vivaldi.net please
( sorry, can't edit my post )

@crosky You can change the design in the settings, there is another desktop theme available. The default one doesn't seem to be made by Vivaldi, but is rather provided to roundcube users by some swiss design company. Personally I always liked the interface better than the one from the webmail domain, I just used the webmail one because I thought the old one would be deprecated soon (lol).

You do the early 90s injustice, this kind of ugliness is timeless ^^

I just tried to login to https://mail.vivaldi.net/webmail/
It tells meConnection to storage server failed
. Deleted all Vivaldi cookies but login still fails. By the way thanks for fixing the Webmail link in the Vivaldi navigation. -

@flaot That particular message looks more like a typo in your password.
