A fix for excessive CPU – Vivaldi browser Snapshot 1.15.1099.3
-
Is there a way to enable https by default when I enter an IP - Address?
Now: 192.168.1.1 -> http://192.168.1.1
Better: 192.168.1.1 -> https://192.168.1.1mf

@mikefield try
vivaldi://net-internals/#hsts
add the sites you want to be always https
EDIT: it probably doesn't work with IP addresses, but you can create a fake domain using your hosts file, in Windows it's in
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
add a line like
192.168.1.1 mylocalhost.mine
then in
vivaldi://net-internals/#hsts
add mylocalhost.mine
every time you access to mylocalhost.mine https:// will be the preferred protocol -
@gwen-dragon yep

@zandathrax: For what? Netflix is working fine here.

Sync seems to be having issues with this build. Have one machine that failed to commit data to server and another machine with a fresh profile that failed to retrieve data from the server.
-
@ian-coog It seems like there is no way not to have a private search engine.
-
@pesala Just like there is no way to have no default search engine for non private windows.
-
@gwen-dragon said in A fix for excessive CPU – Vivaldi browser Snapshot 1.15.1099.3:
1.14, that is the way if you do not need the feature.
I really don't care as I don't use private windows.
It just seems obvious to me that if no search engine is selected for private windows that the default search engine will be used.

@christoph142: Ey watch it brat or I´ll slap you with my dentures!
-
@ian-coog many thanks for your response.
There are a lot of sites I've to add then. So I will open a bug ahem feature request to add the possibility to use https as default in the settings.mf
-
@ruario, could it be, that the Vivaldi version is wrong reported when a bug report is opened?
I have installed 1.15.1094.3 but reported is 1.96.1094.3.mf

Windows not maximized correctly exists in this build still exists.

@rsaeks I can confirm the sync problem on 2 different systems:
System Spec 1: Vivaldi 1.15.1099.3 x64 - Windows 10 Pro x64 1709.1699.248 - MSI 970_AMD FX6300_16GB RAM_256GB SSD_3TB HDD_AMD Radeon R7-360 18.1.2
System Spec 2: Vivaldi 1.15.1099.3 x64 - Windows 10 Pro x64 1709.1699.248 - HP LT 17z_AMD A12 9720P_8GB RAM_1TB HDD_AMD Radeon R7 17.7.1

@gwen-dragon It's not always the fault of others. Vivaldi is a niche browser, you cannot expect web developers to take care of it. If you ask me what's bigger? 1.9 or 1.15, the answer is 1.9, because only 1.09 would be smaller than 1.15. In truth it's Chrome's fault to come up with this nonsense, but Chrome is so big that they don't care. Vivaldi should just jump to 2.0 to end this confusion, and if they wanna continue with 2.1 they should jump from 2.9 directly to 3.0.

@an_dz: and prime video ?
-
I found some problems:
The sound of videos on https://www.welt.de/ plays way to slow. It's not synchronized at all.And Chromecast support is fully broken. To stream a tab is not working at all and streaming the desktop is way too small.
Also 60 fps videos on YouTube & Twitch results in a lot of dropped frames, no matter what resolution i choose. My system should handle it.
My system specs:
AMD FX 8350 eight-core CPU
16 GB DDR3 RAM
Geforce GTX 680 (driver version 390.77)
2x 480 GB SSDs (RAID 0)
Windows 10 Pro x64 (1709.16299.248) -
Aargg...pages don't finish loading, yes it's now a "known" issue but I was hoping for a fix today. Vivaldi snapshot is unusable at this moment.

Menu bar is on top of fullscreen videos when using Native Window mode in settings.
-
@anotheruser Also when not in Native Window mode, but I think that this has already been reported.

Regarding the change notes to the last non-Mac release and the current release notes - are any changes to be expected regarding the encrypted local storage?
