Congrats to Norway and USA - first gold medals!
-
Thanks
and Norway have one of each after the two first events. -
From Sochi'sofficial web page about team Norway:
Norway is the most successful nation in winter Olympic history, both in terms of total medals won and gold medals won. :woohoo:
Yes, I am a patriot, but only as long as it is about sport. -
Huge congrats, Norway! 2 gold medals and 4 in total for now
To be patriot is a very good thing, and not only in sport
You live in great country with great history that was made by great people - why you shouldn't be proud for your country? For me personally Thor Heyerdahl is one of the greatest people in the world. And I'm happy that I had worked in Norwegian company a few years and lived a few months in the same city as Thor a few years before. I can say that Thor is very popular person in Russia (and in USSR before). Every of Thor's visit to USSR and Russia was a big event for millions people.

Of course, because unfortunately the best browser you have no longer…
Btw: I'm sorry to disappoint you but it´s not Norway - it´s Germany:
Ewiger Medaillenspiegel der Olympischen Winterspiele
Perpetual medal table of the Olympic Winter Games (Google translate)P.S. As a 1/4 Dutchman I can proudly announce: Three medals in speed skating (5000 meters) for the Netherlands: Gold, Silver and Bronze + new Olympic record!

Norway always comes with only one squad.
Germany = West-Germany + DDR?
USSR = Russia + Kazakhstan + + + -
Media is taking lots of interest in Sochi toilets http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/thesochinetwork/loo-others-having-view-toilet-gaffe-sochi-081953714.html
I am not suggesting a discussion on Russian public toilets in general, even though they have been fun to explore when I visited the country. In this thread, let's limit ourselves to the Olympic toilets in Sochi.

Esspecially for you:

To be honest, here in Portugal, the Super Bowl has more importance among the population than the Olympic Winter Games, actually.
Portugal has two athletes (http://www.sochi2014.com/en/team-portugal) and they're both living outside Portugal (France and Switzerland).

RVieira you have got a valid point. I would appreciate more if Norway took some medals in the Summer Olympics, than lots of medals in the Winter Olympics.
Who cares about winter sport? I myself find winter sports less and less interesting especially since I have lived in the tropics. During Lillehammer 1994 I lived in Tanzania, and now I am in Manila. -
The anti-site is useless. I have seen Russian public toilets first hand when visiting the country. They are a topic all by itself.
Toilets of Sochi are definitely better. Must be. Otherwise it would not be Olympics. But there must be glitches too, because it's expected, and I didn't see all images refuted on the anti-website

I don't think this thread was made to denigrate Russia or to piss off our Russian friends on Vivaldi.
Besides AFAIK toilets aren't an olimpic contest.
How about limiting ourselves to the Olympic games? -
How about limiting ourselves to the Olympic games?
Indeed, how about limiting ourselves to the games. Any event there you find worth discussing?

There are 98 events in 15 winter sport disciplines (1300 medals to win) one might choose to comment or discuss about.
Toilets are definitively not among them. At least not yet  -

I don't think I need to defend myself for linking to Eurosport in connection with the current Olympic games.

You don't have to.
I've read lots of bad taste comments in German media too.
However it's sad that even major sport events like the Olympics are misused for political instrumentation… -
Wow, so strong fighting for medals between Norway and Canada!
-
Norwegian biathlete Ole Einar Bjoerndalen on Saturday equalled the record for Winter Olympic medals won when victory in the sprint in Sochi took him to 12.
Read about Ole Einar Bjørndalen on XXII Olympic Winter Games official web-site. -
Congrats!
