5 months have passed, any update to how far down that pipe we are talking?
The status was update from 4 to 3. It's an update.

Although this was posted a long time ago, I am really hoping it gets implemented. It can be an optional feature and turned off by default, but at this point I can't go without commenting on how useful this feature would really be for those with multiple windows.
I have a cat that loves to wake me up by doing various things I dislike- some days, she will walk all over my keyboard, almost always closing my current browser window in the process. I can, of course, eventually recover the browser by using the Trash icon, but it takes hours (yes, hours, I checked) for the remaining window to transfer all my pinned tabs and register that a window was closed in its list. It has gotten to the point where it is seriously affecting my workflow, but she doesn't do it every day, so moving the keyboard before bed every day would be more cumbersome than actually just being able to prevent this loss in the first place.
I am figuring I can't be the only one who really wants this as at least some kind of option to turn on, because the restore features take much too long to work when your loss is one window in a multiwindow session that has more than 10-20 tabs. I do also use a session extension, but it autosaves sessions infrequently and also saves your most recent session after a major change, such as, say, an entire window closing.
Although I see this thread has not gotten many replies, I sincerely hope that this is at least an option in the future. Sure, make it off by default, but I believe the choice to not have your main window and important tabs gone from a single click/button is pretty important, and should be an optional core feature for this browser to really shine. As of now, I will try searching for extensions that can provide similar functionality.

@sapphiredragon The thread has more replies than most, and 55 upvotes currently, which is also a lot more than most. That does not mean it gets done any sooner, but it might attract the attention of a developer more than a feature request with only a few votes.
If you regularly lose sessions, learn to save them from the file menu. Saved sessions will load quickly, or at least without any manual input required.

I see, I am glad it's gotten more attention than most! I do hope a developer will eventually work this feature in, it would be a wonderful addition and very welcomed by me.
Indeed, I can save them from the File menu too, but my tabs change quite a lot every day. In order for saving sessions internally to work for me, I would have to save them every day, so there would need to be some way to automatically delete older ones or else I won't be able to scroll through a list that long. That, or I could both save current session and then delete oldest one, but this is a lot of preventative maintenance for something that doesn't happen every day, or sometimes even every week. When it does, though, I'm SOL for many hours.

I wish Vivaldi had some minimal defence against Windows trying to restart...
Especially for Private windows... -

Yep. Count me in on this one.
Come on guys, this is basic functionality. Not everyone uses sessions to save every time they browse. But would still like to have a confirmation on closing the application.
Maybe stop focusing on adding multi-tab-fluff and add some proper usability...

Any updates on this feature? Especially since Sync has finally released for stable (I'm glad too ^_^).

@pesala O.O You made me SUPER excited , as I saw that the mobile version is being worked on. The confirm on close can wait, I really want that mobile version the most.

+1
I submit this option for 2 years.
I'd like to have two options:- confirm closure of every window
- confirm closure of the browser
-
The latest snapshot now includes this option.

@LonM IMO your mod was better - it worked for all opened windows...
-
@pafflick
How does it work now? -
@Nekomajin The MOD showed a warning when closing any window. The official implementation is that the warning dialog shows up only for the last window - just like in the old Opera.
-
@pafflick
Well, it's not good. -
So now this topic should be closed and opened new one with individual windows confirmation request.

Yaaay glad to see the feature got added ^_^
