Confirm Closing Vivaldi
-
It's in the Pipeline.

There should be a setting to change when should the browser warn the user based on a set number of tabs open (i.e. If I want Vivaldi to warn me with 20 tabs open, I put in the setting "Warn me at 20 open tabs", and the browser will do so). But this would be an additional setting along with the normal warning
-
I want this option really much. Please...

Does this include a confirmation pop-up when there is still an active download? There are times when I accidentally close the browser just to interrupt unresummable downloads. I would really appreciate a dedicated exit confirmation dialogue just for active downloads. Of course, for people who are irritated by pop-up dialogues, users should be able to turn the feature on or off in settings.

@xypher That's a different thing, and is already available, at least in the latest Snapshots.
Specs: AMD A10-6800K, 8 Gb on Win 10 64-bit β’ Snapshot 1.15.1137.3 (64-bit)

@ghpy A simple solution is to disable the X on tabs, that is what I did. I just close them with my keyboard CTRL+W or clicking with the mouse middle button. No more closed tabs by accident. Of course, that will not save if you click the X in the browser window as it will close everything.

And that's exactly what this thread is about: accidentally clicking the upper right hand X or typing the corresponding shortcut (depending on the system: Ctrl+Q, F4, Alt+F4 ).

Recentely I told the Dev assignee of the bug we are all anxious.
-
For macOS,
Add an option: Long press CMD+Q to close Vivaldi
-
FYI, this request is internally under VB-6951
-
I hope it is implemented like Opera 12.18. It is a better method than Firefox.
-
That's exactly what @CheVe11e_191 said above.
"Add notification to prevent accidental exit" it's not a bug, it's a New Feature.
@Pesala Can't you remap the keyboard?
-
It may be an option, although I am already annoyed by too many pop-ups on Windows with 'Are you sure?' and other confirmations of anything. However, some may be useful, for example, the alert when Vivaldi is closed when there is a current download, which has already been added in the latest versions.
-
@catweazle An option enable by the default unlike the Chinese browser.
-
Good News!
The Status changed from 4 to 3.
Where 4 is Minor Loss of Function, and the status 3 means
Major Loss of Function. It's not a Bug, it's a New Feature.
Edited:
Assigning the bug to a developer Once a bug is confirmed, we assign a priority level to it that ranges between 1 and 5, where 1 is the highest priority. At this point, itβs up to the engineerβs discretion which bugs need immediate attention and which can hold off for a bit. If an engineer feels up to the task, theyβll assign the bug to themselves to let everyone know that they are working on it. If we find a regression, which is usually caused by a previous bug fix, we assign it to the developer who caused it.

@tweak That pipe is pretty long. Some things have been in it 2, 3, 4 years. The developers don't give ETA's and the testers are not allowed to offer guesses. Sorry.
-
Thanks for letting me know. I love and have used Opera for a very long time and I really like Vivaldi but I def am missing some of the functionality it offers. (Prob still use Opera is it didn't become unstable suddenly after the most recent 2 updates).
I do appreciate you letting me know, guess I'll just wait and hope!

@tweak That's what I'm doing! (Except I do get to cheat by testing some things that are not publicly available...)
