Split Bookmark Pane
-
Adding the capability to split the view of the Bookmark pane. The upper part showing the folder structure while the lower part shows the content of the selected folder.

I'm with @Rongar . Yes, please, please, please add the Split Bookmark Pane feature. It is honestly the only thing keeping me from making the full switch to Vivaldi.
I got spoiled with it as a standard feature in Opera. Then I found an addin for Firefox. But since the switch to "quantum" the addin doesn't work and I've been limping along with an old ESR version of Firefox.

I just started using Vivaldi and the bookmark section drives me BONKERS. THREE panels with NO way to turn each off. It's a jumble. AND no way to slide column lines one way or the other or delete empty columns like Tags or Notes. That one just wastes a huge amount of space adding to the jumble. must be about 20% in the middle there. Really, I just want the bookmarks and a pane with urls and maybe a preview pane optional with an X to turn it off and some kind of maker to toggle it back one.

Why is this still not a thing! It would make bookmarks so much more useful. Does anyone know if there is an addon that will do the equivalent?

It is just one of 1,900 feature requests, and does not have many up-votes. The Vivaldi Team is small and much of their time is used to fix bugs and to keep Vivaldi up-to-date with each release of Chromium.
Add-ons sometimes create new problems as noted by Junker above.

Exactly the same situation for me, except I finally had to switch to Vivaldi. Split bookmark pane is so much useful than the default "full tree" pane. It's so much faster to use your bookmarks when the pane is split to folders and folder contents. Hopefully Vivaldi team implements this.

Not sure about upper part and lower part.
Bookmark management needs improvements. Right now its pretty painful to D&D bookmark(s) from one folder to another. Here is an example of Firefox implementation:Edit: gif removed

It's about the bookmarks side pane, which is usually limited in horizontal space (user adjustable). Not when showing bookmarks on a tab/window, like in your gif. The suggested split view is horizontally split, not vertically split like in your gif. It's much much easier and faster to use than the current "all folders+bookmarks" view.

@Tealing are we talking about this view?

No. That is the bookmarks on a tab. Panels are different things: https://help.vivaldi.com/article/panels/

@Tealing oops, wrong thread :smiling_face_with_open_mouth_cold_sweat:
the suggested split view is horizontally split
Where we can see the examples of this view? Screenshot maybe?

What's in the wrong thread?
If you look at the side panel of bookmarks, just imagine it split horizontally. The upper part has only folders and clicking on a folder would show the bookmarks in that folder on the lower part of split view.
Here's a borrowed older picture to give you an idea how it looks:

I'd like to add to the feature request that the split bar position should be user adjustable (kind of obvious, but still putting it in here).

Well, I was looking for a thread about bookmarks management, not bookmarks panel

Thanks! I prefer a drop-down bookmark menu on the address bar.

I am frustrated as for I don't have this.
This is not a feature, this is common sense and kingdom. -
