    @boolean Yes, no surprise, there have been more than ten times as many posts and users than usual since the launch of 1.14 Final. It will return to normal in a few days.

    The forum is secured against attacks, but this countermeasure may sometimes fail and connection to webserver is lost.
    The browser will reconnect automatically if the server is ready.

    As described it's specifically the Vivaldi browser, other browsers have no issues connecting.

    @boolean Hmm, I did not get such issue in the last hours.

  • Unsure if others are experiencing he same issues, but I'm running:
    Vivaldi 1.14.1077.41 (Stable channel) (32-bit)
    Revision 78970e4f64703c0ec59cfeab6df9fd6f474dfa97-

    Checked to see if it were an issue on my side. Deleted cookies and disabled AV, FW, and Application Guard softwares. Issue persists.

    I wonder if a user already had a cookie set in Vivaldi, for several days or more, that they wouldn't be affected. I do not need to be logged into Vivaldi forums while using the Vivaldi browser to see the message. Chrome, Firefox, and Opera can connect to https://forum.vivaldi.net without issue.

    So, I wonder if it's an SSL authentication bug with the Vivaldi browser.

  • 10 months later... issue continues, which is why I'm posting this using Chrome... issue probably doesn't exist using Opera browser either but I've not confirmed that. The issue is isolated to Vivaldi.

    @boolean It does not seem to affect most users severely.

    I see the error message quite often, but it never persists for very long. Refreshing the page fixes it.

    This user seems to have a more serious issue.

    • How often do you see the error message?
    • Does refreshing the page fix it?
    • If you try again later, is the error gone?

    If other browsers are working without issue then that would inform an intelligent individual that there is a problem with the Vivaldi browser. 'Refreshing' is not a fix, it's an armchair solution...

    Mod Edit: Insulting comment removed.

    @boolean Try again later, means after five minutes, not after ten months.

    Servers sometimes have errors at times of heavy loads.

    My comment really went over your head.

    More probably, there is something particular in your Vivaldi installation, that may cause the issue. Like an extension, for example. Or a 3rd party software that affects Vivaldi more than the other browsers (like an antivirus program). You should check those possibilities first. (Keep in mind that sometimes simply disabling an extension or security software doesn't actually prevent it from affecting the browser. Check the Task Manager to make sure that none of its processes is running, while testing this).

    Clearly, most of us use Vivaldi to browse these forums, and we don't have such issues, which suggests that there's something wrong with your installation and not the browser itself. I occasionally see this error message when switching back to the tab with the forums opened, but it never lasts for more than a half a second and I don't have any issues with the forums in my Vivaldi installation whatsoever.

    Anyway, I'm pasting this step-by-step guide to debug/resolve some of the most common issues with websites and I'd highly recommend you to start with step 5 or 6.

    1. Force reload the page and all of its contents including scripts, styles and images (by default: press [CTRL] + [SHIFT] + [R] or [CTRL] + [F5]);
    2. Open the page in Private Window (by default: press [CTRL] + [SHIFT] + [N] to launch a new Private Window or select Menu > File > New Private Window). If the issue is gone in Private Window, then go to step 4.
    3. Disable all extensions (if this resolves your issue, then try enabling them one by one to check which one is causing the trouble);
    4. Clear browsing data and restart the browser if necessary;
    5. Refresh your profile;
    6. Try another instance of Vivaldi to check if the issue occurs there too - preferably the latest Snapshot (you can download it from here). Don't update your current Vivaldi! Install new instance as "standalone", so that it doesn't interfere with your current installation. You can easily get rid of it later by removing the folder where it was installed.

    In the linked thread luetage suggested that it might also be a problem with posting from certain locations, i.e. using different servers.

    @luetage said in Connection lost, again:

    @pesala Is the content for the community served through a single server world wide? That's the question we should be asking. Since none of the other users posting here seem to have such a grave problem, it's likely we are talking different servers.

    @pesala But then, it would affect other browsers on the same device too (I think)... 🤔
