Profile Manager

Support for different user data directory profiles with a profile manager.
Right now I have to use a cmd app to add the
user-data-dir
argument prior to launching vivaldi, but it would be nice to have one built-in, similar tofirefox.exe -p

I'd love it, mainly I could create a "visitor" profile when someone but me to use the browser.
-
@lonm "vivaldi.exe --profile-directory" offers similar functionality in Chromium. We have no UI in Vivaldi for this yet.
-
@pettern the profiles are more light weight than data directories (and are a close match for what Firefox offers), but it would be nice to have both as options because (if I'm remembering correctly) user data directories have support for multiple active profiles at once whereas I remember someone having issues with multiple profiles at once.
-
The best way to organize my browsing needs would actually be able to use multiple profiles simultaneously. E.g. "work", "private", "visitor/kids". In a perfect world there would be a way to define syncing rules and extensions allowed for each profile/directory independent of each other. And of course this feature would work impeccably .

@derday Thanks, lazy reading from my part. I just hope the Vivaldi Team will present the UI for Profiles together with the mobile version of the browser (for Android) with sync. Then I could ditch all the other browsers. Longing for that day, actually.

Hi, this is already possible with latest snapshot.
Enable "User profile management" in vivaldi://experiments/
I use it for testing with a clean profile without any setup changes and extensions.Cheers, mib

there should be a way to give a link to another userprofile (eg open with profile 1)

Edit: removed images (no more needed)

This functionality is now implemented in vivaldi version 2.4
