Video Pop-out
-
Possibility to pop-out video to be top of the other webpages (ala Opera, Maxthon).
-
Additional image of feature, displaying that a video window can also be at the top of different windows.
-
Chrome is working on support for this, behind the chrome://flags/#enable-picture-in-picture flag. This should (hopefully) make it easier for vivaldi devs to implement.
-
A workaround for now is to add a video as a web panel.
-
I hope vivaldi can implement this.
-
@lonm It's still broken also on canary (chr66) but the fun fact is...
while vivaldi 1.15 show a black window with OS buttons named "PIP video" - canary show a rectangular control-less shape
PIP addons are a nice workaround, but I hate how they hide controls - especially extensions and back/forward buttons. -
As of earlier last week, the WICG have drafted a proper proposal to make Picture-in-picture support a standard part of the web. IT's still a draft as of now, but it's interesting to see it developing:
-
This solution would be also interesting for every page : a pop-out from a link to get a useful basic preview.
-
@seasonly It would be nice. But it needs to be implemented at a website level. Most browsers could do this already to some extent with a javascript popup.
For videos it's a bit trickier, as you only want to pop-out the video element itself (and without interruption), but have it still be tied to the page, which requires a browser level implementation.
I guess it would be interesting if you could "pop-out" an arbitrary page element.

Surely, it would be funny !
I don't understand why it is so hard to have this, for me it's just a new window with a page opened inside, and for the video pop-out specialy, we delete all the element of the page (as adbrowser does) just keeping the element. -
fyi this is VB-20321 internally
-
Yes I just came from Opera and I believe this is the only worthwhile feature Vivaldi can add from Opera.
-
When will this feature come?
-
@armaganguven Vivaldi does not predict or estimate the arrival of features. In this case, the authors of Chromium are building the feature, so when it's baked in to the Chromium code, Vivaldi can begin to make the adjustments to their own UI code to accommodate the feature.

You heard the man, time to put pressure on Chromium forums (joke)
-
@ayespy Please do it fast.
-
@armaganguven Has the feature already arrived in chromium?
-
-
all my yes!

This feature will be implemented? Any news? Waiting this feature for change to Vivaldi as default browser, it's way better than opera. Since i use this a lot, everyday to be honest.
There's is no reason to not implement this, like bug in chrome or anything like that, since Vivaldi uses chrome 65 and Opera uses chrome 67 and still have this feature since 2016.
