No physical and on screen keyboard input
-
The screenshot was of the whole browser window using the default microsoft windows snipping tool with the option to capture the whole window instead of a freeform rectangular snippet. However I just deleted the shortcut to vivaldi and went to the programs folder and tried the application from there and there was no problem. I don't know why the old shortcuts were linking to that weird vivaldi window without accepting input but now it's not a problem after I made new shortcuts.

@davidchu Alrighty, then.

I can confirm that on Surface Pro, Windows 10 x64, Vivaldi snapshot 1.14.1077.3 the on screen keyboard does not open when focusing on a text input field on a page. Switching to tablet mode does not make a difference. It did work in an older version as I understood from old topics. Could this be a regression?
Anyway, it would be great if the OSK can pop up automatically like in Chrome, Edge, Firefox on Surface Pro. Because of the awesome new Sync feature I would love to use Vivaldi on my tablet and desktops. -
Acer Switch Alpha 12, Vivaldi version 1.15.1147.64, same problem. Is there any fix yet?
-
@forthright And what exactly is your problem?
-
@mdl Mmm, Surface Pro, Win 10 x64, my niggle with Vivaldi 2.0 was (is?) that the OSK keeps popping up even when cover or other keyboard is attached. Same does Opera lately, so I guess it's something with latest chrome. I went back to latest 1.16, no problems.

@pafflick When laptop is in tablet mode, on-screen keyboard doesn't pop up after selecting text field on page, it works only for page address/web search field.
-
For me, it seems to work with in-page text input fields, regardless of whether I'm in Tablet or Desktop mode. On what pages does this issue occur? Do you have your physical keyboard attached or detached when it happens?
Tested in Vivaldi 1.15.1147.64 (Stable) (32-bit) on Windows 10 ver. 1803, x86 (with touch-screen support)

@pafflick Looks like my Windows wasn't fully updated. I've checked for updates once more and after installing the last version my problem seems to be solved. I'm really sorry for the trouble.
-
@forthright There's no trouble at all - I'm glad that it works now. It seems to me that the OP had a different issue, but he solved it anyway, so I'm marking this thread as resolved.
-
In case someone finds this thread looking for the opposite, as I was, the only solution on Surface Pro is to enter Settings - Devices - Typing - Uncheck "Show the touch keyboard when not in tablet mode and there's no keyboard attached"
and then not use the Surface without the keyboard or in tablet mode... -
