CPU high usage after macOS 10.13.2 (17C205) update (up to 6000rpm fan speed)

I've updated my OS to benefit the latest security update.
I'm using Vivaldi 1.13.1008.40 (Stable channel) (64 bits)
After installation and first use of Vivaldi, my device started overheating.
Sorry, no screenshot of activity monitor as my Mac was lagging a lot.
I don't know if anyone encounters the same issue.
Do you have a Intel GPU? Apple did some updates on drivers.Reply Quote 0 1 Reply Last reply
@manase Hard to say what this could be. Most of the time when this happens to me, the culprit is an "mdworker" process reindexing files on disk... or a media player decoding 4k video with a software decoder.
If your system is really laggy, open a Terminal window and issue the "top" command to see what processes are eating CPU time. (Hit the Q key or use Control-C to exit "top".) It's a good old-fashioned alternative to "Activity Monitor.app".Reply Quote 2 1 Reply Last reply
@manase I should have also added that CPU spikes can sometimes be caused by extensions, as in this case:Reply Quote 0 1 Reply Last reply
@gwen-dragon Yes, I have.
@xyzzy Thank you, but I was not able to use it until the last update so sorry for the late reply.
I removed all my favs, extensions and everything in the 1.13.1008.44 update and it seems to working normally again.
Thank you all
@manase Nice to hear that it works now in the current .44 Stable.
Thanks for feedback.Reply Quote 0 1 Reply Last reply
