Vertical Reader Mode - Vivaldi browser Snapshot 1.14.1072.3
-
I don't read Japanese or Chinese but I'm very excited to hear that Vivaldi is working on such innovative features. I wonder if there is scope for comparable alternative viewing layouts for left to right languages, e.g. a column reader view with sideways scrolling.
-
I'm seeing the same issue. Only ads are displayed. Occurs on macOS on sites like cnn. Safari works just fine.

@rsaeks You forgot to mention the version of macOS you are using. Try to restart the browser first, I'm on macOS and don't have this issue.
-
After upgrading to this snapshot I can't play any music from Bandcamp, Soundcloud or any videos from Facebook. Youtube videos work fine. I'm using Linux Mint 18.3.
-
Suggestion: Perhaps the Blog should provide a link to a site where one can test the vertical reader view?
-
@luetage: 10.13.2 and have already tried to restart the browser. Reverting back to 1.14.1064.3 resolves the issue.

VB-34267 seems still present: Smartcard authentication does not work for me any more for some time now. This is a regression that should be fixed. Is anyone able using smartcard authentication?
-
@mozzer: No problems here, I tried with Polish too but it still works. Do you have UI zoom, High DPI display or something?
-
@helsten2: Context menu is very crazy in C64 builds. If you have panels on the right and right click a web panel the context menu shows up on the left.
-
@an_dz: UI zoom is set to 80%, FullHD display, Windows DPI scale 125%. This bug is not present on all websites.
-
@gwen-dragon: Two things I would change : "cd /tmp" and "cp ./opt/vivaldi/libffmpeg.so ~/.local/lib/vivaldi/" (the .so)
-
This is really a cool feature, but I hate to break it to you guys -- Chinese people don't really read anything vertically nowadays, unless when learning Kungfu, lol...
-
@gwen-dragon this worked for me. Thanks!
-
Glad to find Chromium 64 in the changelog!
-
HTML5 Proprietary Audio and Video not work on Linux...
chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra installed. -
@eucliwood See Gwen-dragon post: https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/185773
-
@gwen-dragon: understand
-
I have tried @Gwen-Dragon's fix but it doesn't really change anything
also I was using the package Vivaldi-snapshot-ffmpeg-codec from herecura repo (that's what @Gwen-Dragon is asking you to install) but after the update, it does not work anymore -
@gwen-dragon
Hi, this is working on OpenSuse too.Thanks, mib
P.S. I read in changelog about warning > [Linux] Warn users if they do not have a suitable ffmpeg lib for proprietary media VB-36111
Do you saw this warning?
