Vivaldi always autocompletes to the wrong site in the address bar
Jenny_666 last edited by Jenny_666
For example, when i start typing "f..." in the address bar, I'd like it to autocomplete to facebook, which i frequent a lot. This is what chrome always did for me. Vivaldi on the other hand offers some other random website (I don't even think it's a bookmark) I don't care about. It's the same with any other attempts to get to websites through the address bar. How does it choose which website it autocompletes to? How can I change the default website?
@jenny_666 Check out the available options for the Drop Down in Settings, Address Bar. You don't have to include bookmarks.
Perhaps you can
Open Settings → Addressbar → Address-Autocomplete
and switch off Prefer bookmarks.

it hasn't helped. it keeps autocompleting "f..." to this random website
@jenny_666 Typed history items can be deleted.

@pesala actually I think I found the solution, inspired by your first comment. in "address autocomplete" i unclicked "always prefer bookmarks".
I guess i haven't actually bookmarked those websites because chrome always let me access them easily through the search bar.
thanks for your help!
@jenny_666 Does this help you?
Open Settings → Addressbar and for Address-Field-Dropdown disable the display of typed addresses.

@jenny_666 I have the same issue. I think the auto-suggestion in Vivaldi is alphabetic, not how many times you click the website.
In my case, I bookmark these 2 sites with a similar address in front.
when I type "f", the first one that Vivaldi suggests is forum.rge.pw. Even tho I've never clicked the site for months, which is not what I wanted. I don't know about other browsers behavior tho, but firefox is always spot on in suggesting me a site, but it may be just my imagination.
The best thing to avoid this in Vivaldi is that putting a nickname into my bookmark.
If you need an other auto-complete for addresses please feel free to request it.
How to make a feature request for Vivaldi
