What custom mouse gestures are you using?

  • Vivaldi has the ability to tie some actions to a self defined gesture (gesture mapping in the mouse settings). I am curious to learn from others what actions they are using and what gestures they came up with.

The ones that I always add are (lightning bolt up and down):

    • Scroll Page to Top: up; left; up
    • Scroll Page to Bottom: down; right; down

  • I'm pretty much satisfied with the standard ones. The only custom one I use is right-left for settings page.

  • UR, an 'r' shape, to enable reader mode.
DRU, to open in a new window

Thanks for asking. I need to remove those that I never use in practice. The chances are that if I perform them by accident I won't remember what I did.

    Default Gestures

    • History Back GestureLeft
    • History Forward GestureRight

    Custom Gestures

    • Scroll Page to Top: GestureUp
    • Scroll Page to Bottom: GesureDown
    • Open Link in a Background Tab (Over a link) GestureDown
    • Bookmarks Bar GestureUp, GestureDown
    • Open Link in a New Tab (Over a link) GestureUp, GestureDown
    • Reopen Closed Tab GestureDown, GestureUp
    • Panels GestureRight, GestureLeft (Panels on the right)

  • @pesala said in What custom mouse gestures are you using?:

    • Panels GestureRight, GestureLeft (Panels on the right)

That is a nice one, I am going to see how that works out for me (panels on the left):

    • Window Panel GestureLeft, GestureRight
    • Downloads Panel GestureLeft, GestureRight, GestureDown
    • History Panel GestureLeft, GestureRight, GestureLeft
    • Notes Panel GestureLeft, GestureRight, GestureUp

I see you flipped some of the defaults, are those reset on an update?

Not unless you make a clean reinstall, but here's a button to reset the default gestures.

You may find that only one gesture for the panels is sufficient. They reopen at whichever panel you were last using. The problem with the panel-specific shortcuts is that they leave the panel toolbar open. Only the F4 shortcut for "Panel" closes the toolbar as well.

  • I know, I always have the panel toolbar open. I expect that the window panel is the only one I will actually utilize. Sometimes you just need to try stuff for a while to see what works and what doesn't.
