Vivaldi crashes when exiting full screen on embedded Youtube player

  • I don't know how to exactly reproduce it, but it happens to me when Vivaldi is working for a long time (about few days - Windows is put to sleep) and have many tabs opened (about 40 in two windows).

Then, when I play embedded Youtube video on some page in a full screen and exit full screen afterwards, Vivaldi just closes at the same time without any crash message. All opened windows gone.

It has happened to me 5 times already in the last 3-4 months and always on embedded player, although most of videos I watch directly on Youtube site. Perhaps, it would happen more often, but I'm very careful. It annoyed me so much, that I wrote an extension that disables full screen button on embedded player. However, I was still able to enter full screen by double click on the player. I did it once accidentally and Vivaldi crashed again 😠
So, I finally thought I would write this post to inform about the problem and find out if anyone else has ever encountered it or it's something with my browser configuration. I have Windows 10 64-bit.

    • Information about your type of GPUs (internale + external) and CPU

GPU: 2x NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M
    CPU: Intel Core i7-3630QM

    • URL where this crash happens

Generally on wykop.pl but it also happened here https://noizz.pl/podroze/9hljynj.
I recommend the second url, because wykop requires a log in to watch on YT player (otherwise it's JW Player).

  • This just happened on the Youtube site too. So, it seems that embedded player is not the cause of crash.

I guess I will have to stop using Youtube on Vivaldi until this is fixed or at least some crash recovery is added.
