@blackbird Sure. As far as I know only Chrome encrypts the login data via the user account.

One might have to think about syncing those two locally (on non-portable installs) and how to integrate with Vivaldi sync...
Reading several posts here I wanted to mention that (I think) sync should fix all the issues with passwords etc. for a standalone installation on USB - and that sync is now working in 1.14 snapshots (in case users don't realise they can try it already!).
At the moment I don't see a true portable Vivaldi. Maybe this might be communicated a bit more direct by Vivaldi in the installer. I have the feeling that this might frequently be misunderstood...
I agree on this point. From personal experience over the last three years I know that running Vivaldi from USB is difficult and slow! Hopefully, the developers can use sync to fix this.
In fact, this thread has inspired me to add a feature request for standalone+sync for a true portable installation!

Well, I think Vivaldi definitely needs some time to grow into a viable replacement for old Opera.
IMO this heavily depends on what you want to do with your browser. Vivaldi has been my only (!) browser for over a year now, and never really left me wanting. Mind you, I only need a browser, not a browsing-capable video client, an email client or whatever... YMMV.
By the way I really miss NoScript
Try ScriptBlock from the Google Store.
Disappearing extensions do not help
Disappearing from the store (i.e. not available anymore) or disappearing from your current installation?
so I'm going to move back to my (correctly working) portable Firefox ESR for the time being.
Maybe at the moment that is the better alternative for you? Hope you will find out

As long as you / the other users realize that sync is still a beta feature and neither complete nor reliably stable...
