Memory Leak?

  • When I use the latest snapshot on my laptop running Arch Linux, I notice the amount of memory used creeps up over time. Closing Vivaldi does NOT seem to release that memory. I'm not seeing this with Chrome or the new Firefox.

  • @wilberfan
When you press "Shift + Esc" you can open up the vivaldi-task manager where you can have a look what consumes so much of your ram to circle down the culprit - maybe an extension or a webpanel?

When you go to vivaldi://settings/?search=background and go to the section "System" and disable the option "Continue using Background Apps when Vivaldi is closed" does this solve the part of your problem with ram consumption after shutting down vivaldi?

  • I'm [now] on Manjaro KDE [ie, not a million miles from Arch], for Tower & Lappy. So far i have not noticed this occurrence on either pc, but will post back here fyi if i do see it happening.

It looks like the issue I was experiencing was due to the "Continue using background apps" setting. And thanks for the Shift+Esc suggestion. That will be useful deciding which extensions to hang on to--or get rid of! :-)
