[solved] Offer current DEB files under fixed path
-
It would be very handy to always make the latest version of the DEB file available under the same path as Google did before.
At Google, the path was called: https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb`
At Vivaldi, I only know this path: http://repo.vivaldi.com/stable/deb/pool/main/
So you can easily install the browser from Debian/Mint/Ubuntu via terminal.
With Google it was previously possible with this command:
wget -c https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/direct/google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb && sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb
Since Google seems to be the world champion in eliminating useful features, this has been abolished in the meantime.

Thanks, you helped me solve my problem.
I didn't know Google just changed the path.
Old path: https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/direct/
New path: https://dl.google.com/linux/direct/
I use dpkg because it is a front-ent for apt-get and has worked well in most cases so far.
