@all recent postings
Thanks for your comments. I will cancel my subscription to Avast in the next few months, which also has doubled in price last year (and still pesters me with upgrade offers) and then shift to another. An IT person recommended AVG to me.

@elmaruser Not to be seen as someone who quotes himself, but I'd just like to (again) add my advice concerning quite safe working on Windows:
install all OS updates
install all app updates, as far as available
use Windows Defender, no other AV software
don't open unknown code (software from questionable sources)
generally disable JS
only allow JS on whitelisted domains
use strict adblocker (UO, disable all 3rd party elements per default, disable all scripts per default)
don't go to websites I think I might ought not to go to...
have regular, good, complete and two independent backups!This has kept me safe and malware-free for a good 20 years on Windows despite intensive internet and software usage.
But if you feel safer with other AV software - good luck!

@elmaruser I did not in any way imply that I use Boolean logic. I was trying to convey that AV programs use it, and this leads to non-identical action from one environment to another. "No one can reproduce..." is merely an indication that the relevant variable is in the environment (your system) rather than in the software.
Avast! and others make up their mind, almost arbitrarily, what to block and what to permit. It is not possible to design software in accordance with the arbitrary rules of various security programs. Rather, security software has to figure out how to safeguard without messing up a user's system and preferred applications. As, to date, no software on the market has ever figured this out 100%, I quit using it over a decade ago and therefore have fewer problems than people who use it. But YMMV. Some people feel naked with an AV and an anti-execution suite. For them, we just have to try to let them know what factors may be affecting their experience.
I hope your experience with Vivaldi continues to be positive over all!
