Viewing image files in browser

Is there a way to view any standard web image type directly in the browser?
If a .png file is built in a <img> tag in an HTML page, it renders correctly of course. But if I try to open that png image in a separate tab, it only gives me the option to download the file and view it in another viewer.
I'd really like to just be able to load the image in Vivaldi. and decide from there whether or not I want to save the image. Is this already a setting I can enable, or does this need to become a feature request?
Hover the image, contextmenu "Open in new Tab…"
Works for me, try it at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable_Network_Graphics with the three dices.
