Where does Vivaldi connect?
-
Can you tell me, where does Vivaldi connect to when the browser should not be doing anything? I just installed it on new computer, started it and although I haven't requested any page yet, firewall tells me it is trying to connect. And it is quite persistent. I choose not to allow it to connect and after a while, Vivaldi tries to do it again? I don't know the license, but does Google force you to do it (at least one of the places it connects is in domain 1e100.net)?
It is very disturbing...

It is very disturbing...The only thing I know that connects to the network with Vivali closed is the app that alerts if there is an update available and that remains resident. But it can be turned off in Vivaldi's options
Personally I have deactivated it, since when participating in this forum I find out about new versions, without needing this function

@pesala I have read privacy policy and still not all is clear. I turned off Safe Browsing, so why is it connecting to Google? I assume it is not Vivaldi Icelandic server which I would be perfectly OK to share data with. But this is Google, which is not fine. Extensions are rather absent, as it is a fresh install... And OSCP would also be weird as explanation because I haven't requested anything yet, so why check certificates?

Please see https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/22330/google-spyware-is-still-not-removed/1 for deeper discussion, there our Vivaldi Security Dev tells that Vivaldi does not support Googles spying data.

I've wondered about that too since I have the Google whitelist malware and phishing off, maybe that stops some Google stuff? It might be some kind of browser Fingerprint ID or WebRTC stuff going on. Someone needs to find out what is being phoned home?
