Filter Invert does not work

  • Its been a while since I have been into the Vivaldi forum.
    The vivaldi filter invert no longer works. The web page does not get dark as it used to do.
    There is though Stylish "Vivaldi Sprucey Bonus DARK", but that is why filter invert exists to not needing to install various extension to get a dark web page.

    This forum has the same problem as Gradle forum, which looks a lot like the new Vivaldi forum.

  • @djviking It works for me. What do you see that makes you say that it does not work? Where does it not work?

    Specs: AMD A10-6800K, 8 Gb on Win 10 64-bit β€’ 1.13 Final Build 1008.32 (64-bit)

  • That is not a forum issue but a problem of Vivaldi's Action "Invert".
    I can confirm, on some pages white background is not inverted.

    Using Filter invert makes the text white, while the background stays white and not black.

    This has been a long problem with filter invert on some pages, like Gradle Forum (which is a lot like this forum).

  • I see the problem on the Gradle Forum, but not on this one. You could try using the Reader View with a dark theme.

    How to do a bug report for Vivaldi

    Report each bug separately at https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/
    Describe the issue as precise as you can.
    Add some information about extensions you use.
    Add information about the operating system and version you use.
    Add some information which security tools you use.
    If you have problems with video or audio give us information about your installed codecs and graphics
    card/GPU.
    Add a exact link to the page where the issue comes up and can be tested.
    After reporting the issue, you will receive a confirmation mail from the bugtracker.
    In a reply to this mail you can add more information and files (like screenshots or testcases) as
    attachments and it will be added automatically to bug report.

    If you have questions about the bug please ask in forum first and do not forget to post the VB-XXXXX
    bug number (you can find it in confirmation mail).

    Thanks in advance for helping us to make Vivaldi better!

  • A while ago I reported a bug which may be related to this one: VB-22592

  • @lonm said in Filter Invert does not work:

    VB-22592

    Is marked as duplicate of older bug VB-10695 ← Please refer to this one for future questions.

  • Found some workaround (works for me, thanks Roland!):

    • Close Vivaldi
    • Open Vivaldi program folder
    • Open subfolder Application\1.13.…\resources\vivaldi\user_files
    • Edit Filter_Invert.css in text editor
    • Change
      html {
         -webkit-filter: invert(100%) !important;
      }

      to
      html {
        -webkit-filter: invert(100%) !important;
        color: #ffffff; background: #000000;
      }

    • save file

    !!! Beware!
    After a Vivaldi browser update this file will be overwritten and you have to change it once more. !!!
