Hitting the right buttons

@pesala: Very good point, Pesala. Things from status bar could well move next to address bar while height of the page area would not be affected.

@ian-coog No, I need two different gestures, one to close the current tab and switch to the next, one to close the current tab and switch to the previous; which is not possible for now AFAIK. Old Opera was great in that regard as it was possible to set several actions in sequence for each gesture. FireGestures on Firefox was also excellent as you could associate a script with a gesture.
I had something like this to close the current tab and switch to the previous one:
var tab = gBrowser.mCurrentTab;
var lastTabIndex = gBrowser.mTabContainer.childNodes.length - 1;
if(tab.previousSibling)
gBrowser.mTabContainer.selectedIndex--;
else if(lastTabIndex > 0)
gBrowser.mTabContainer.selectedIndex = lastTabIndex;
gBrowser.removeTab(tab);And like that to close the current tab and switch to the next one:
var tab = gBrowser.mCurrentTab;
if(tab.nextSibling)
gBrowser.mTabContainer.selectedIndex++
else
gBrowser.mTabContainer.selectedIndex = 0;
gBrowser.removeTab(tab); -

I need lots of things myself too, for now I can live with what it's offered.
FireGestures on Firefox
Again, I want to stress enough on this, it's a 3rd party extension doing such complex things, or do you know some browser that implements such scripting natively? I wish too Vivaldi team could provide this and many more features, but as of now, seems a non trivial thing to add. More customizations will come in future hopefully, for now maybe post or vote existing feature requests in the thread https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/20968/feature-requests-for-1-13/

@ian-coog There's already a load of feature requests for gestures.
Search for the one you want and upvote it.

@goustifruit Scripting is part of our TODO list. We will get there, but our list is long.
-
@pesala Feature Request works only for the nearest release. I like Vivaldi, but I am not so fanatic to fight for these features from release to release.
-
@pesala I am not surprised, because it comes from the famous TabMix plugin for Firefox I have upvoted, but it seems that I will need to do this from release to release I'll try.

@jon:I've tried window panel a little more with 1.13 release. With single click option and hidden tab bar, we are very close from the perfect result.
I also appreciate the recently closed tabs folder to choose which one I want to restore.
A few things are still missing:
- The current tab is not very visible (just bold)
- No more tabs rolling with the mouse wheel (I love this)
- No more middle click to close the tab
And as I already said, pinned tabs should be displayed more compact.
I don't really understand why you've made this window panel instead of improving the vertical tabs layout. They could be merged into a very powerful (IMHO "perfect") tabs layout for user having lots of tabs.
I have submitted a feature request, as I've already done after 1.12 release, but is it lost in page 21...only first page requests are receiving votes...

Firefox is ally not enemy!
-
@gbb Firefox is not an enemy of Vivaldi, but it is a direct competitor. To survive, both browsers need to attract users from Edge or IE, and Chrome, which are used by the majority of users. More users means more cash for faster development.
