Saved passwords gone and can no longer save or import new ones
-
All of my saved passwords in Vivaldi disappeared recently and I can't re-import or save any new ones. Here's what happened:
I needed to clear my cache, etc. so I went to Tools > Clear Private data and ticked 'All' for 'All Time', then unticked 'Passwords'. However, this also removed all of my passwords, even though it wasn't ticked.
Having recently moved from Firefox, I tried to import them again. I can import Bookmarks, but passwords don't come across anymore. I go to Settings > Privacy and it just says "No saved passwords found".
Whenever I go to a site it offers to save the username and password. I click save, but it doesn't save it - settings still say "No saved passwords found".
Any ideas?
Thanks.

@hawky Hard to tell what's wrong, maybe try and reset your profile. (Backup your data beforehand.)

@luetage
Thanks, but no luck. I also tried removing everything to do with Vivaldi, using AppRemover (it found lots of stuff), but still no joy.I wonder if it's something to do with Firefox Quantum (57.0)? It used to be able to import from Firefox 56.
Maybe one of the debs could take a look???

You can't import passwords from Firefox. The options in the import dialogue are chrome, opera and safari. And only chrome and opera have an option to import passwords.

@charlie_x Hmm, I used to have this problem too, many many versions ago, but Vivaldi fixed it at some point. Can you see your passwords in
chrome://settings/
? -
@charlie_x That's a corrupted login data file. Replacing it will restore function, but lose all of your passwords.
Perhaps you can export and save them using ChromePass or similar, (in the case you can't remember all of your passwords), replace the Login Data file, and start building up your password store again.

@charlie_x There is a method whereby you can install a 1.11 version of Vivaldi, activate the import/export function for passwords, export them and them import them to a working file, but I can't guarantee it would work, since your corrupted file is telling you there are no stored passwords. But if you're interested in trying it, I'll dig up the procedure for you. At least if you try it, there's nothing lost.
