Can not play video in Vivaldi (Youtube Vimeo)
Randomly does not play video on these sites. In all other browsers everything works.
Please, give us the vimeo URL, tell us which video does not play, and tell us your Mac OS and Vivaldi version.
macOS El Capitan - Sierra, Vivaldi 1.x - 1.12.955.38.
@acerbic This issue has been discussed at length in the Mac forums and a fix is currently in the works.
Vivaldi uses the decoders in macOS to play H.264-encoded videos on sites like Vimeo and YouTube. The way the code is currently written, it requires that GPU hardware acceleration be enabled. Unfortunately, Chromium coders blacklisted some video drivers, disabled hardware acceleration on some Macs, and partially broke video playback in Vivaldi on those systems.
You can check your hardware acceleration status by going to vivaldi://gpu
If your GPU has been blacklisted, you can try to override the blacklist by enabling the following flag: vivaldi://flags/#ignore-gpu-blacklist
Restart Vivaldi and you should once again be able play most videos. This is only a temporary workaround. The GPU got blacklisted for a reason so it's possible that you might encounter performance and rendering glitches on some sites while this flag is enabled.
There's also an issue with some Macs (e.g. older iMacs with Radeon GPUs) where some videos can't play regardless of Vivaldi's hardware acceleration status. Unfortunately, there are no workarounds to fix media playback issues on these systems.
These are both known issues and fixes are currently in the works.
Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 Mac Edition
I have the same problem with my iMac (27-inch, Mid 2010) and ATI Radeon HD 5750 1 GB.
On MacOS High Sierra 10.13. Cannot play Vimeo videos, but works on Safari, Chrome and Firefox.
None I wish to use.
Video is unable to play for the following URL:
Advertisements play, but the actual content does not with the error message "The media can not be played"
Video plays fine in Safari
