How Many Tabs do you Usually Open?
-
@lamarca Yes, that's why this thread is getting more replies nowadays.
-
@pesala Indeed. 92 replies, including this one. I keep 10 or fewer tabs. Only those is in use.
Speaking of math, why not the Members countdown? -
@pesala I agree with the session management improvement, but there is the possibility to save a group of tabs as a bookmark.
-
@burbuja Sync does it:)

After 94 votes:
- 10 tabs or fewer = 27/94 (28%)
- 50 tabs or fewer = 62/94 (66%)
- More than 50 tabs = 32/94 (34%)
- More than 100 tabs = 13/94 (14%)
-
My straw poll seems to be heavily weighted in favour of those who open a lot of tabs.
An official survey by Vivaldi indicates that 82% (not 66%) open 50 or fewer tabs, while only about 17% (not 33%) open more than 50 tabs.

Things have changed since I last updated my answer
Now I’m at 8, the number goes from 1 to ~20 usually staying around 10.
-
Usually less than 10. The most I have ever opened at one time (not on Vivaldi) was 22.
-
Trying to keep it under 200-220.
Low <= 50-80
Average 100-150 -
@RogerWilco Only for curiosity :
How many hours (or percentage) of the day do you maintain 100-150 open?
Do you use vertical or horizontal tabbar?
-
2 maximum.

Every weekday I open 55 tabs. These are the websites I go to every day. I also have a list I open once a week, and another for M-W-F too.
On the everyday 55 list, I've found Vivaldi doesn't open them as fast as Firefox, but is waaaaay faster than the new Edge.

Hi! )
every day I open a looot of tabs...on my work. I use a lot of resources during the day, sometimes it slows down the computer(( -
As someone who had lots of tabs in the past (no more than 100 btw), I can understand why people often have +100 tabs, personally I don't use more than 10 nowadays, but I strongly think that support for people that use lots of tabs is something incredibly good, it was one of the main reasons that I downloaded vivaldi in the past, the tabs groups, tab stacking, is incredible useful, I think that judging someone who have +200 tabs is silly, since well, I could do the same with people that have +50 tabs open, or more than 10, because "why in the world you need that many!?", the same could a person with 1~2 tabs do with me, it's all upon to each one, and Vivaldi having support to everyone, every single user, at least on most of the problems, is what makes it unique and innovative, ofc you could open +100 on chrome or firefox, but no browser has a tab stacking function by default like vivaldi, almost no browser has the same level of customization, speed, reliability, security and privacy, all at the same time, as vivaldi do. xD

@valdosaw1024 I think that any product should be designed to suit the vast majority of users, and not attempt to cater for every possible use case. This is especially true when resources are limited.
The survey by Shpankov suggests than 93% of users open 100 tabs or fewer and 80% open 50 or fewer.
Vivaldi should focus first on the 80%, when they have time they can add features to help another 13% and hope that the remaining 7% can make do with that.
You can please all of the people some of the time ...

Tabs just tend to grow. I'll open a lot of things that I hope to get back to read. Right now I have 11 windows open with about 30 tabs each, so about 330 tabs. It'd be nice to have a placeholder tab, where the page isn't loaded and is just there for future use (I'd describe as a next-up, ephemeral bookmark).
-
@Pesala I expected someone to say that, that's why I said "support to everyone, every single user, at least on most of the problems", and in any case I said it should be designed or have to, I just said it is atm, designed to fulfill the need of almost all users, ofc talking "every single user" is too extreme but let's say "almost all users" because it is very customizable.
