Vivaldi beats Firefox Beta (new Quantum engine)

  • Hi, just for info:
Vivaldi Snapshot 1.13.966.3 beats Firefox Beta with the new engine Quantum on my system.
    24.8 : 31.7

    Opensuse Leap 42.3 x86_64
    CPU Intel T4200 4 GB
    GPU Intel GN 965
    xf86-video-intel 2.99.917-6.1

    Tested with http://browserbench.org/Speedometer/
    https://www.mozilla.org/de/firefox/channel/desktop/#beta

    Cheers, mib
EDIT: Beta is much better than 52.3.00, by the way.

  • Firefox has always been somewhat slower than Chromium browsers, this is no different in the new Quantum, even 30% faster.
But it is still an excellent browser to have as a secondary

  • @catweazle, Hi, Beta is often faster than Chrome.
I was amazed that Vivaldi is even faster at my test.

P.S. Is it permissible to make such comparisons in the forum?

  • Guys, but are you browsing tests or browsing internet/working with browser? I don't mind that some tests are faster in Vivaldi, that page will load 0.5 - 1 second faster, when I have to wait 3 times more to start browser than other competitiors. That opening new tab is always much faster in competitiors, that action made after every click is always half a second slower in Vivaldi than elsewhere...

It often depends on installed extensions or other factors.
I have several browsers and the ones I use are Vivaldi and FF as second. I have a 10 year old paleolithic Laptop with Win 7 and Vivaldi has always been faster than FF in all aspects, both in the boot and in navigation
