Static when playing Youtube videos (Debian)
-
Forgive me if I'm not submitting an issue correctly. I'm new to the community and don't have the hang of submitting issues yet. I did search and didn't find my particular problem.
I'm finding that almost every Youtube video I've watched will eventually begin emitting static with the audio. It seems to also eventually drop out. I haven't watched any long enough to see if it subsequently returns.
This issue exists for me on latest stable V installed in latest stable Debian.
I would be happy to provide more information if needed, please just let me know.
Thanks for your time!

@schwim In my opinion "the best way" is to:
1 search for your problem (which you did)
2 post a thread about your problem (which you did)
3 check out any replies/suggestions
4 create a detailed bug report if not solved.First thing for me to say is that I don't see/hear this on my system (Linux Mint 18.2).
So I would suggest that you check for codec type problems as described in the thread
https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/12973/video-playback-problems-troubleshooting-and-solutions-on-linuxIt may be O.S. specific, or it may be hardware specific so if other debian users do not have similar problems you could try giving more details of the specific versions you are using (version numbers etc) and your h/w type (cpu/gpu(s)). There are chromium issues caused by specific gpus, especially intel or multi gpu configurations.
Have a look at the first section of the page vivaldi://gpu (Graphics Feature status) to see if hardware acceleration is activated or not. Depending on your gpu and whether yourt gpu is "blacklisted" ON or OFF may be the correct setting for you. So I'd wait for others (with similar configs) to confirm.
Edit:
Regarding making a bug report, to quote our esteemed @Gwen-DragonIf you found a bug, please report the issue to the developers to fix it.
How to do a bugreport for Vivaldi
Report each bug seperately at https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/
Describe the issue as precise as you can.
Add some information about extensions you use.
Add information about the operating system and version you use.
If you have problems with video or audio give us information about your installed codecs and graphics card/GPU.
Add a exact link to the page where the issue comes up and can be tested.
After reporting the issue, you will receive a confirmation mail from the bugtracker.
In a reply to this mail you can add more information and files (like screenshots or testcases) as attachments and it will be added automatically to bug report.
If you have questions about the bug please ask in forum first and do not forget to post the VB-XXXXX bug number (you can find it in confirmation mail). Thanks in advance for helping us to make Vivaldi better!
