Another feedback - bad.

As an old (real) Opera user I became agitated once I'd heard about Vivaldi. So I installed it immediately, launched and ... phui! 1. GUI - ugly, grisly, appalling. Win 8 crap on my sleek Win 7 Aero screen? Travesty! Being hideous the program is laggy - resizing, for example, is not pleasant at all. Also startup: Opera 12, IE, Chrome - 2-3 s., Vivaldi 20-30 s. And those blurry fonts It behaves alien too - ie. popup windows do not close themselves when losing the focus. At least you made vertically aligned tabs - really big deal in our dark times. 2. (As I understood) being a Chromium child there will not be 'select text inside a link', 'small screen', 'fit to width', 'disable scripts to detect mouse events', dragonfly? Right? Well, back to 12.14 - still works on 99% sites, still the best. The bigger hope - the bigger disappointment. Pity.

What is it with this past weekend bringing all the most absolutely unpleasant Opera 12 users out of the woodwork?

That's a matter of opinion. That said, I can't imagine that skinning won't be in the cards at some point. Going from this interview, I have a lot of trust in Tetzchner.

Are you running this on a 486 or what? I've installed Vivaldi on a full desktop, a laptop, and a no-legs little Windows tablet and it works fine on all of them.

Look, I don't know what the deal is with you nutbugs and Presto but: Presto is dead and it's never coming back. It was started as a closed-source project and Opera ASA isn't keen on letting it go anytime soon. Writing a new engine at this point would be the height of folly. I for one am content to have Chromium if it means having the most important features I like (different tab positions leading the war) added back, even if I have to relearn a few habits on utterly inconsequential details like this.

Have you ever heard the phrase "throwing the baby out with the bathwater?" Because it's what you're doing here. This is a technical preview - it's not even an alpha - and demanding perfection at this stage of the game is the height of childishness. Anyway, go back to your dieing, out-of-date browser and its increasingly dysfunctional and security-risky engine. Vivaldi will be here and getting better every day in the mean time.

Wut, only boot-kissers allowed?
Are you running this on a 486 or what?
Did you deduce it from "startup: Opera 12, IE, Chrome - 2-3 s"? You are wrong, Watson (as usual). Vivaldi enumerates installed fonts painfully slow, that is why.
Of course, if you you use your PC for boot-kissing only , you have just a handful of fonts installed, so you would not know.Presto is dead and it's never coming back.
And that is a capital crime against humanity. Responsible creatures should be hanged heads down.
But I did not ask about Presto. I asked about about exceptionally useful features.Have you ever heard the phrase "throwing the baby out with the bathwater?" Because it's what you're doing here.
Right now the baby looks like a Devil's brat ( yes, GUI), so I do not care.
(They could use Lazarus for multi-platform native look. Well suited for customizable flexible interface. Fast to design, fast to develop. Well, they do not.)All in all we, nutbugs, love women and despise rubber dolls. But we realize that for some specimen rubber doll is a woman, and Chrome (-ium) is a browser.

I doubt anything can be faster/simpler than a CSS stylesheet, which Vivaldi uses. There's already a skin that adds 3D effects somewhere here on the forum.
If you don't like something, you can change it yourself, just edit the CSS sheet.

How can I do that?

I am not an CSS expert (and not going to become one).
Tell me one thing: how can CSS help you add controls to a panel (or remove from it)? Drag a button from a site page to a toolbar?
Shortly, truly customize your interface, not just colors? -

Shortly, truly customize your interface, not just colors?Well, you didn't specify what kind of customisation you need. Currently you can change your Vivaldi's looks to whatever you wish by editing (or downloading some) the CSS stylesheet, so that can fix your "GUI - ugly, grisly, appalling. Win 8 crap on my sleek Win 7 Aero screen? Travesty!" issue.
As for other features - how about you wait for those to be implemented/confirmed to be rejected before criticizing?
I mean - I fully understand people requesting features. That's part of what the Tech Preview is for, right? But you're coming here and saying that Vivaldi sucks, because it's lacking some features? C'mon, that's not very smart, is it?

you wrote:

so I wrote:

then you backout with:

See? CSS is not simpler/faster than Lazarus.
Ironically Object Pascal/Delphi/Lazarus is to other programming platforms what Opera is to other browsers.
(It is so much superior - day would not be enough to describe its advantages.) And as much neglected. And yes Vivaldi is ugly as Win 8 (and now Win 10) - exceptionally.

terzaerian - I think that maybe the nasty comments and screaming from some people on this forum goes to a lack of understanding of where Vivaldi is in its development and the releases that we are getting.
There seems to be a lack of understanding of resting of pre-alpha, alpha and beta code before release for public distribution. It appears that some folks are downloading Vivaldi and expecting to get a totally shiny, sparkling, fully implemented distribution.
I wonder if the warning to potential users should be in LARGER, BOLD, COLORED and FLASHING TEXT and GRAPHICS -
THIS PROGRAM IS NOT YET IN A PRE-ALPHA STATE - HELPFUL COMMENTS and REQUESTS ACCEPTED - BUT USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM AND DATA BEFORE USE.
