How to recover Notes
-
My computer technician says that my "Notes" are corrupt. Is there a way to recover them or to open them using a particular program?
Thank you.

"%localappdata%\Vivaldi\User Data\Default\Notes" is just a JSON formatted file, any JSON editor should be able to open it
-
And you should know there is a Notes.bak containing the before Note changes.

What do I need to open a Notes.bak?
You want to restore the Notes?
Move your old defective Notes file out of Vivaldi profile and rename Notes.bak to Notes.

I did what you suggested but then the browser refused to start/open. What should I do?
-
Start Windows taskmanager.
Look if there are vivaldi processes running and terminate them.
Open Vivaldi profile folder Default
Delete all files like Current Tabs, Current Session, Last Tabs, Last Session
The try to start Vivaldi.

I did what you suggested but the browser still refuses to open. Any further suggestions? I'm afraid I can' t recover my Notes because the file is corrupt. I have a lot of important data inside it.
Thank you.

@paok70 Refresh your profile and go from there.

But you can have a rescue. Open the file in a text editor and copy&paste the human-readable data into new notes.

Is there a better way to solve this problem? If not, which text editor should I use?

No, if you do not know what the json data format is you may add more problems than solve.

Noetpad.

Notepad doesn't work. What about "FileViewPro"?
