Vivaldi browser for android
-
Hi Vivaldi, do you have a version of Vivaldi browser for android mobiles? if so please let me know where I can download your app.
-
Not yet. They are still trying to get the PC version where they want it to be; they didn't want to divide their efforts at this time.
-
It is on the way. We actually have people on it now. I even have a very early version running on my phone.
-
@jon Oh, geez. Now they'll NEVER leave the devs alone to finish it in peace...
-
@carlosalbertosilva Only Jon and the developer or two who are actively working on it have any access to the Android experimental (not Beta, not even Alpha or Technical Preview - just experimental) version. As to sync, it is being widely internally tested. Sync would seem to be likelier to be released first, and an Android version later.
-
@jon hell yes, can't wait! Keep up the great work.

It's the best browser related news I've read in a while! With the latest developments of some popular browsers and sites we're in desperate need of new alternatives. If it's already hard to find a decent desktop browser it's nearly impossible to find something mobile.
-
@jon So uh . . . looking for anybody to try it out? Asking for a friend.
-
@ayespy That would mean it's definitely not ready yet, not even for beta testers or Technical Preview testers(I would love to even just test a TP). But I hope this news means that releasing a TP is going to be somewhat soon, hopefully even before sync releases.
Why? Probably because it would make sense to make the version numbers of Vivaldi mobile and desktop the same. It'd be great if we get the Android version while we're on version 1 on desktop(1.13 now, and then whatever 1.xx we'll be on if mobile comes in at 1.0), then when version 2 with sync and/or mail comes, it'll have both the mobile and desktop versions start at 2.0, and the desktop and mobile versions will be aligned in version numbers. Do you think maybe they're planning that?
-
I expect sync to come first. Sync is in active use internally and has been for some time, but we are still improving it. The mobile version is still very early, although I am using it as my default browser already. That being said, it is not ready for prime time, not even for a TP, but we are making good progress.
-
We testers have Sync already, so I have to agree with Jon there. Sync is to the point they've given it to us to test, Android is not - much as I'd love to. The question is more whether Mail or Sync will come first, Android will be after both of those.
-
I am immediately uninstalling Opera once I get Vivaldi for Android.
-
@jon YES! Goodbye to the other browsers I use, once Vivaldi enters the game!
-
That's not really news, sync gotta be released before an android version. What would we do with a mobile version that doesn't include our collected bookmarks/passwordsI/etc.?
-
@jon could please show us the screenshot of that Vivaldi Android version !
-
@jon
I really like to hear this about sync and I'm really waiting for it over than 1.5 year. Is there any time plan for release of sync? In which release will it come? Also, Android version ist one of the last missing things. If you need some beta testers let me know.
Is there any official roadmap with time marks for big milestones like sync, mail or Android version?
-
Those of us who've been with V or old Opera for a while know better than to ask that. The answer is "When it's ready" (aka WIR).
-
Sync is out and doing just fine (for me at least).
So, Android should be not too far on the horizon.
Maybe a Christmas present (hint!)?As someone previously said, when it comes out, goodbye Opera (and the others)!
-
@danielson The testers were using sync like a year before it came out. The vivaldi android version, at least as far as I know, hasn't been released to testers. Calling it on the horizon is probably wrong. The next big thing is hopefully the mail client.
