Same here! I prefer this method too.
BTW what do you think about this?
@Stardust said in Feature requests for 1.12:
Middle click scrolling anywhere on the page by holding MMB.
Basically, it is improved version of already existed Middle click scrolling: MMB should be pressed the whole time when you perform scrolling. This way you shouldn't care about where to put cursor (under link, image etc)
I think it is a huge improvement.

Infact it doesn't care where I re-click middlebutton (aka Scroll wheel) to exit scroll mode, it only exits scroll mode, even if I click on a link.

I'm having the same issue on Windows 7. It seems strange that posters here are suggesting that the users are scrolling incorrectly when this method has been in place for years on Windows. It seems very much in the realm of preference rather than right/wrong in my opinion.

There is no right or wrong. I was wondering why users like to press their fingers while scrolling. not nice for the finger over decades (fact is more RSI by mousing around).
I feel more control when performing scrolling

sad they take so long to fix a bug

'Cuz after all, there's just the one, right? And all the development team is doing all day is playing foosball or darts, drinking coffee and napping. Just so's you know, 40 to 50 bugs are reported formally through the Bug Report page each day. On top of this, each new Chromium build introduces new bugs. And the team turns out a new build five days a week (sometimes 2 or 3 builds in the same day) and each build has fixes for 5 to 50 bugs, plus progress on new features. At present there is a backlog of some thousands of bugs due to the nature of development and programming, and the (rather small) size of the team. Sometimes a single developer will slay several bugs in a day. Sometimes a developer will work 10 hours a day, five or seven or fifteen days to slay a single bug.
So, sorry they "take so long" to fix the (one and only) bug you are worried about.

@koolio Please have some patience. The team works hard to fix bugs the whole week.
And the problem has not high prio as you like, teh problem it can be solved by users by not pressing middle mouse button while scrolling.The problem still persists even if you do use the autoscroll the slow way.. it only needs a fraction of a second to press/release and if you so much as moved the mouse a little bit inbetween that time, it will have drag selected some page content.. which is the bug.. [mmb] is not meant to select any page content with that button... selecting page content is [lmb] ... for a low priority bug this sure is brought up alot... not even by me, I've seen it brought in blogs, reddit, bug reports, multiple forum posts, though it sure is bloody annoying to have to use mmb the slow way, and even then it can still sometimes pick page content for quick users.. just because some employeed berks think it's low priority.. or worse actually think it's a useful quirk.
If I didn't know any better I'd believe that bullshit @Ayespy

Ah, i see the downvoting morons have visited this page too. So sad for their tiny minds. I continue to disagree with the V fora having a downvote tool -- it's just fodder for these dolts.

@koolio Really?

@koolio since you know better, I'd be grateful if you would let me know what information I have perceived incorrectly during my work as an internal tester, my reading of the internal bug tracker, my communication with the developers, or my reading of daily changelogs and my downloading and installing of the daily test versions. After all, I only stated what I see, so it would be much appreciated if you could let me know what is wrong with my eyes.
