@Ornorm And again...
-
@nichigo13 How do you get your background to show in the upper toolbar?
-
@Ornorm the animated thumbnails are cool, but you don't find it distracting? I can't stand things moving or flashing, even like a taskbar item that's blinking when the window has an update but isn't active. It's like a hyperactive Jack Russell terrier jumping and yipping trying to steal my attention away from what I'm working on.
But it is a cool personal customization. I would be more likely to do it myself if it could present information, kind of like a conky for webpages, scroll top headlines on news sites, scroll relevant info on a weather site. That would actually be a really bad ass feature -- live tile speed dial thumbnails. But really difficult to implement with no standardization for what to present across websites & even pages within a site.

Oh yes! That would be great indeed!!!
For the other point, no, it isn't distracting for me because the Speed Dial page is a page I just see temporarily when I want to open real web pages afterwards. Otherwise, it would be, like you said (and I love the comparison) : "a hyperactive Jack Russell terrier jumping and yipping trying to steal my attention away from what I'm working on"

@Ornorm I think I'll never understand people that mess with any images/graphics. How much time did it take you to make the background? And how much do the animated thumbs take?
-
@potmeklecbohdan You know, after so many years living with myself, I still don't understand me
For the background image, a few hours, you're right but for the animated thumbnails, I did cheat a lot by using existing animated Gifs I found on sites like Giphy. -

This is my colorful theme/color scheme!
-
My setup has the Windows taskbar on top, and the Vivaldi tab bar with a color scheme that blends the two together:
I wish we could achieve a unified bar with both webpages and standard Win apps:
It would require the user to use 7+ Taskbar Tweaker and Vivaldi devs to implement this feature, that you can upvote now (wink-wink). -

Nice look. I used to run my taskbar at the top sometimes on win2k rc2 back in 1998, when I had a CRT that didn't have the widescreen aspect ratio. Today's widescreen displays place a premium on vertical screen real estate, and the content of websites rarely if ever is that wide -- it certainly isn't good for reading for the text to be that wide. So nowadays I currently run with the taskbar on the right side of my screen. I put Vivaldi's tab bar on the left and its panel on the right and this setup pushes the web content into the center of my and gives it the extra vertical space usually consumed by the taskbar and tab bar. Your setup is slick though, they do look as if they are integrated.

Now I have a theme to match the default herbstluftwm config + some colors and image from their example screenshots. Again with my edit of the transparency mod.

Status bar on top, all on top, clearer.

Vivaldi + MusicBee Miniplayer Get MusicBee

@patriki Which of the two cursors is the real one?
FYI, this it what I call invisible SD:
(status bar, tray, conky, conky… and all the screen wide and from below the conky to the bottom is Vivaldi)
(here it’s less invisible, on the right)
(wallpaper) -
@patriki I think you quoted wrong part of my post (guessing from your reply). The quoted text was about… ‘Can you see the two mouse cursors on the Vivaldi screen, one on the left and one in the centre a bit to the right?’
-
@patriki This. One of them is the ‘real’ mouse, the other is part of your Vivaldi wallpaper
-
@potmeklecbohdan , a multi-tasking Vivaldi wouldn't be a bad idea either

Update…
To be used with transparency mod and this wallpaper.
