Vivaldi 1.11 – Focus on accessibility

@terere said in Vivaldi 1.11 – Focus on accessibility:
Do you realize there is no consistency with the icon that shows in the menu and the one that shows in the taskbar right? One is completely red, the other one has white with red borders.
I would have tried to keep the square form and just make the edges a bit round. While I don't mind rounded borders on the icon, personally I think it's overdone. You rounded it so much that the square looks deformed and it is not a circle either. So now it looks like a TV icon, more like Youtube.
To be honest, I really like a new icon. Definitely more than the old one At the same time this is true that this little UI inconsistency is annoying.

@zandathrax: Time will tell, but it's definitely getting closer

I have just updated to 1.11 Stable 32 bit (on Windows 10 64 bit).
However, the "menu squircle" is Black (as in snapshot version) and not Red (although both desktop and Taskbar squircles are red).
Note: I do have Snapshot (64 bit) installed as well. Could there be a bleeding of the "menu squircle" from Snapshot to Stable?

@tbgbe: Themes using
Apply Accent Color to Window
will get a monochrome version of the icon, in this case black (changes to white depending on luminecense). This is to make sure it's legible for all the possible background colors. -
@jonmc: I have to seek confirmation every time when this is mentioned. Does Mail still include RSS Reader or it's gone for good? Thanks!

Great ^^
-
@mossman: Would you like it if it was called Superellipse with n>2? (just kidding)
At least the new icon solved the problem where the old icon became virtually invisible with certain theme colors - and it does not look like a picture hanging crooked on the wall in smaller sizes where the transparency effect of the rotated parts of the old one was not prominent enough.

Jon, I love Vivaldi. In my opinion the browser doesn't start as quickly as I would prefer to see. Furthermore, great job done so far Jon!
-
@jonmc: Will we be able to access Facebook messaging from the mobile browser, like Firefox and Opera, or will we need a separate app, like with Brave and Chrome?
-
Congrats Vivaldi team on yet another neat update! Keep it up!
I have a question for devs. Starting Chromium v60, flag #disable-gesture-requirement-for-media-playback was removed. Is there a chance in near Vivaldi future that users will be able to have this useful option again, to enable autoplay audio/video media in a new background tab without a constant need to visit that tab for media to start playing? Thanks!
-
Congratulations for this update! As usual, great job!
-
@jonmc: YES! Synch at last, its the only reason why i dont use Vivaldi in its current state as i dualboot with linux and if I have to reinstall vivaldi on windows i have to manually copy my files.
Great to see it will come one day, and when that day comes goodbye google chorme! -
https://www.primevideo.com does not seem to have been fixed by the recent round of media fixes should i bother reporting again or just keep waiting and trying wit each version
-
Is this "much larger visual overhaul" going to include native-ish themes? On Win7 the GUI looks very out of space. Scrollbars are flat, menu items and toolbar buttons are also flat on hover instead of having some border and a little gradient.
Any chance we can get better visual integration as an optional, additional theme?

@cynical13: I haven't heard of plans just yet on how the mobile version of Vivaldi will work with messaging apps like Facebook's Messenger (if I'm understanding you correctly?).
-
@sushubh: We do plan to include it at some point, but not likely in the first version of Mail. Hope that puts your worries to rest
-
@jonmc: Firefox and Opera mobile browsers allow you to use messaging with in the browser itself, without having to use a second app.
I was just hoping that this would be the case for Vivaldi as well, considering the desktop work to integrate a lot into one program, without the need for extensions or other programs. But if it's not that far along yet, I completely understand. But maybe something to consider down the road, possibly, pretty please?
-
Pardon me, but the new logo looks like a condom package.
-
My wish for the next versions is to have more command options for mouse gesture (to avoid extensions which don't work well with Vivaldi).
-
@atlemo Ah, that explains it.
Turned that option off and it's OK now.
Thank you.
