(How to) Install LastPass for Vivaldi
-
Might be able to go that way, but _locales is definitely not a problem with vivaldi.
-
Interesting. I only know what the error window said when trying to install extensions with _metadata in them.
It's possible the text in the window was not true.

Thanks Erik,
worked for me in Windows. I got an error when I installed it ('tabs' is only allowed for packaged apps, but this is a extension), but it works nevertheless.
I'm wondering if I can install the rest of my essential plugins like this. -
@sgordon:
Hi everyone,
Install was OK  but how can we use the extension ? There is no icon, nothing to start with :woohoo:
ThanksSuch settings and options as are available will be found at vivaldi://extensions

didn't work in OSX, "get CRX" is not an option when you right-click.
-
I am technically feeble– I used the crx tool and the command to create a folder and then I was stuck because copy/paste in terminal was not working for me. . I manually moved my file named lastpass.zip to the last pass folder and unzipped it with archive manager. I then manually cut the entire metadata folder and save it elsewhere to be sure I deleted the correct item (which it was). I installed it as suggested via developer status in extensions. I went through the options and logged in. I restarted vivaldi and seem to have a completely bug free install accessible with a right mouse click. Many Thanks to ErikP and Ayespy.

Following the instructions, I just installed lastpass on Windows 8.1 64 bit without issue. It took an extra restart to get the right click context menu to come up, but my auto-login sites worked perfectly the first time. Thank you so much!!

I already installed LastPass before I found this thread and my way was much easier than this IMHO. I just launched the Google Web Store for Extensions and installed LastPass from there.
Am I missing out on doing it my way rather than following the steps here?
Update - my way does not work for snapshot 1.0.201.2-1 but does for stable 1.0.162.9!

I did the same but I have to re-enable Lastpass in chrome://extensions every time I launch Vivaldi browser so that's kinda annoying… I haven't tried the trick from this thread (yet) though.

This is an old thread but just in case I thought I'd let Mac users know that LastPass now has a "LastPass Universal Mac Installer" which installs LastPass on all of your installed browsers including Vavaldi. Worked like a champ.

All I had to do is go to Chrome browser search for lastpass in Chrome Store. Right-click on the 'Add to Chrome' button. Select Copy Link Address. Paste link (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lastpass-free-password-ma/hdokiejnpimakedhajhdlcegeplioahd?hl=en-US) into Vivaldi bar and allow the install to happen.
-
@ErikP That was easy! Instead of all that mumbo jumbo, all I did was go to the Chrome Web Store, find Lastpass for Chrome and add it, much like I did not on Chrome! The process is identical to the one for Chrome. Awesome!
-
@brackenhill_mob I did exactly what you did. It works great! That is good enough for the girls I go out with.
-
This works for me in latest Vivaldi, 3.x Thank you,
-
@musicollector Thanks! This worked for me, too! One note: Even when adding it within Vivaldi the button to click in the Chrome Store says "Install on Chrome". But it actually installs it on Vivaldi.
I'm experimenting to see if I can switch to Vivaldi after reading a recent (June 2021) article about the truly intrusive "FLoC" technology being rolled out by Google. If I'm going to use Vivaldi as my primary browser (and hopefully for email too) I could not do it without LastPass! Thank you
-
@erikp Those instructions would be easier to follow if, they were in numbered steps. Like this:
#1: Open the car door
#2: Sit in car
And so on.
-
@lorirocks Glad it worked for you.

I just tried to install LastPass using Chrome store - no go.
In Chrome browser: right clicked on "Add to Chrome" to get the url, but only got a limited right click menu, (no "Copy url").
In Vivaldi: on the Chrome store LastPass page - no "install for Chrome" button or link.
I thought that was because I wasn't signed in to the Chrome store in Vivaldi, so I tried to sign in. Got message "This browser or app may not be secure. Try using a different browser."
-
Worked perfectly for me. Identical process to installing on Chrome, once you copy over the URL.
Go to Chrome browser search for lastpass in Chrome Store.
