Vivaldi kicking butt in HTML5test
-
The site html5test.com checks how well browsers support HTML5. Here are the results for the browsers on my current machine. The maximum possible is 555 points. First off, IE8 (ok, not really a fair comparison, but why update if you're not going to use it anyway...?): Let's get away from laughable to a more serious contender, Chrome 40: Next up, Opera 27: And finally... drumroll... Vivaldi 1.0.94.2: Wow! For a tech preview, that's... amazing :woohoo: So finally, here's a comparison of browsers (the site is currently a version behind on some of them though, e.g. won't let me select Chrome 40 yet): Vivaldi team, give yourself a pat on the back! For comparison, Firefox 36 gets 449 (same as 35). Opera 12 gets 338. Opera 29 gets 514.

It's plenty good enough, but no, it's not kicking butt.
Opera 29 scores 514 on the same test page. The differences are three more points for Audio, and 1 more for Custom Search providers.
Opera 12.17 scores a measly 338 on that test, in case anyone is wondering why Vivaldi chose to use the Chrome rendering engine.

Hey, it did score 2 point higher than IE11.

I've learnt that these benchmark testings aren't always what happens in the real world of browsing so scores really don't mean a lot if the truth is known. I've seen PCXfirefox in the past absolutely annihilate the competition on scoring but in real use it can feel jerky and non-smooth compared to a much lesser scoring waterfox or a chromium browser. The best overall performing browser at this moment in time is OPERA and I wouldn't use anything else right now but that might change with future Vivaldi's.

If you go to html6test.com, not html5test.com, I think it's an updated test where Vivaldi actually scores the exact same as Chrome - 526 points.
This is as of the Beta 2!
