Sync is coming. Watch the progress live.

@GT500 The code I will show falls in two categories:
C++ changes that come ontop of chromium which we do typically open-source.
Javascript code which does not have an open source license. Even though it isn't open source, the vivaldi package contains that code in full, but minified, so I won't be showing anything there that you wouldn't be able to find out. -
@julien_picalausa 2 questions:
- Do You have plans to provide access to Sync API?
- Would it be possible to add some sync restrictions into bookmarks tree?
I think that many people use Vivaldi both on home & work machines and just don't want to mix data.
I mean I want to access/sync all of my bookmarks in my home but I don't want some of the bookmarks to appear in my workplace (at all - I don't want to store any hidden data on my HDD).
Maybe something like "Opera Mobile" directory in Opera 12.x that was the only one accessible place on mobile devices?

@ayespy: Of course you cannot share a screenshot, right?
-
@gwen-dragon word...
-
@zikkeratak Internal testers cannot disclose any information about unreleased products and features. So no screen shots, no descriptions, not even any hints about what's to come.
-
@julien_picalausa: Cool. Thanks for the info.

@helmers Some time ago I checked one of the photographs used in a snapshot blog post, to check the copyright status and it was indeed free to use. However all of these sites and artists providing free content do recommend giving credit. It isn't mandatory, however I'd argue it is a fair and just request. They even provide a comfortable interface to do so. So why does no one ever do it? (except you just now of course ^^)
-
@luetage: Totally agree. It's so important to make it easy for visitors to find the artists behind the royalty-free work. I've started adding links in the footer of our Snapshot blog posts, but we'll try to add shoutouts everywhere we use images like this.

oh god, finally! the best news!
-
That's just an awesome idea. It's... holy shit, I will be there, it's so cool I can't even find the words. You're just the best, guys.
-
@julien_picalausa: BTW, why is the JS minified at all ? It doesn't change much on network traffic, as it's tared anyway ; it shouldn't change much on perfs, as JS must be JIT'ed anyway ; it doesn't protect Vivaldi's IP either.
So, why ? -
Add RSS Feed Reader to Vivaldi similar like Bamboo Feed Reader and I move to Vivaldi!
-
I still can't log into the blog. I can log into the forums but not the blog. What gives?
Someone on the Vivaldi team please respond. I'd like to join the conversation but I can't
because I can't login. Any answers? -
@Para-Noid You just joined the conversation.
Besides, a forum search would have revealed this:

Awesome!

Amazing Browser 3 things it needs is
- Drag selected content to open a new tab and search
- sync (google would be best)
- Removal of open in new tab to be replaced by open in new background tab
-
@Murtaza_a You do know that 1) and 3) are avaiable via context menu (right click)?
And this thread is about 2) -
@tbgbe: Yea there is the open in background thingi but being a chrome user earlier i happen to click the first thing and am forced to come back to the original tab i was on,
- i know there is the search for option , but i still happen to select and drag to open a new tab the small plus sign does come up but does nothing
2)Having Sync will be amazing
- i know there is the search for option , but i still happen to select and drag to open a new tab the small plus sign does come up but does nothing
