Reader mode configuration panel – Snapshot 1.11.880.3
-
@wojcieche: Following that logic, all settings must be in the panels too, especially those concerning the page content (fonts for example).
My issue is with consistency, not where it is. -
BUG: .png icons in speed dials do not have transparency anymore, only white background.
Also, liked the placement of the "add thumb" button better before.

@cheve11e_191: I totally agree

Hi. There is one problem, I think since the beginning, with CSS Debugger at the bottom panel. When you switch this on, it shows all the elements. Now press F5 and all the lines are not visible anymore. But the debugger is still ON. So when I want to see the lines around elements I need to disable css debugger and enable again.

The Reader Mode panel needs to be renamed to the "Reader View" panel.
In both the Page Actions popup menu, and the URL field Reader icon tooltip, it is named as "Reader View."
-
@dLeon Thank you, good temporary measures but I would like to see real offline reader added when convenient.

@axander
I figured it out. Now this is not entirely thought-out, because I keep my panels hidden with F4 so I can't see this settings button. -
@dleon: One Note Clipper or Memit (Saves page in your cloud storage) for web page with links intact, or Diigo, Instapaper or Pocket to save a bookmark & snippett. All work fine in Vivaldi, and Instapaper is Premium for free

@an_dz: Many thanks

Now this is not entirely thought-out, because I keep my panels hidden with F4 so I can't see this settings button unless I press F4ad has been initiated in the first place.

@TianlanSha The icon is above the Settings icon on the Panels toolbar, but it only appears if the Reader View is available (not on this forum for example).

There's a bug with mouse gesture 'scroll to bottom'. When I do it, it scrolls to top instead. I'm using the inverted 'u' gesture. This only happens on the new youtube layout. It does it on the entire site.(watching video or not) youtube.com/new. Using latest snapshot on windows 10 64 bit.
-
@an_dz: When I install the 64bit version, I get an error message and Vivaldi won't open, reinstall the 32bit and it works fine.
Is there a problem with the installer? -
If you toggle the new Reader Mode panel to "on" by right-click on the sidebar and check (if it was previously disabled), and the page does not provide reader view, the panel should not appear.
Instead, it does appear without the matching icon, so the only way to make it go away is to open another panel and then close it.

@wilsonkun Confirmed.

@andyraisbeck: Ignore the last comment please, must have been a duff download. Runs fine

Another nice addition this reader fix, but not really necessary: I frequently use reader mode to see something clearer and not be distracted, but I don't care too much about setting up fonts or line distances, not that it's not coming handy! I, also, believe that reader setup should be in the settings department! In general, sometimes customization issues are 'too much' for my taste (page capture among others)! Now, I believe it's time to implement some serious improvements for touchscreens, i.e. tile movement/arrangement by finger, some kind of 'tablet mode' for buttons & menus (bigger buttons and distance between menu items) or, in general, some 'finger utilization' fixes - I believe that Vivaldi would be the first to introduce this kind of behavior which is commonplace for Android!

@dleon: On re-reading I why realised my answer was off the mark.
Maybe a link between Reader & Notes? -
@Guardrail68 Reader View is not available on all web pages.
Try this one on Wikipedia

I like it! It'd be nice to also be able to set other kinds of styles, and maybe our own. I'd love a Pocket-style reader style(both light and dark). It just looks nicer with the not completely black charcoal text and off-white background, or with dark grey/charcoal background and grey/off-white text.
