Vivaldi.net Email

  • @debbie:

100 messages par day = 2 messages to 50 contacts per day ?

Yes. But we can increase this limit. What would be realistic?

Compete with Gmail and Google Apps for example:

    http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2008/06/gmails-limitations-for-sending-messages.html
    http://google.wikia.com/wiki/Gmail_sending_limit
    http://stackoverflow.com/a/18361598/1697

    Yahoo:
    https://help.yahoo.com/kb/yahoo-business-mail/SLN17518.html?impressions=true

Hotmail (assuming that's up to date and assuming that the outlook.com servers are the same)
    http://email.about.com/od/windowslivehotmailtips/qt/How_Many_Emails_You_Can_Send_from_Win_Live_Hotmail_per_Day.htm

Think fastmail does it by bandwidth instead.

    Whole list on this page:

    http://group-mail.com/sending-email/email-sending-limits-for-isp-web-hosting-and-free-email-providers/

500 per day would be a good start. Then, time will tell if that's too restrictive.

Would also be nice if you're sending the same message to multiple people (via To, CC, Bcc header) that they don't all count as 1 each. Still have a restriction on how many you can send to at a time though.

Is the limit to stop spam or to limit bandwidth with the SMTP server? If just the former, I suggest being a little lenient at first to see how things go as I'm sure most of us here aren't spammers.

  • So happy that there will be still a free mail service from europe with multi-language support.

    So thanks for that πŸ˜‰

I recommended the Vivaldi Webmail to some friends. What you need, is a nice front page for webmail like the homepage on Vivaldi.net and the Vivaldi Mail logo.

Maybe you can use the iceland theme, it looks very beautiful and fresh πŸ˜‰

  • Thanks

  • Hi redpriest πŸ˜‰

I think it would be wrong to demand money for the service. ( Fastmail is good for that )
There are only big american players who offers a multilingual free email service, so i'm always happy to see a europe service which not only competes locally πŸ™‚ And i know no one.

And there are already a lot of email-premium-services too.

But i have nothing against unobtrusive advertising in the form of banner. But first it should evolve and grow and someday it could be maybe an option, when it is a complete and rich service πŸ™‚

  • Thanks Debbie for the CSV info above.

On another note, would it be possible to allow Vivaldi to export to CSV as well? Vcard export seems like the only choice. Having CSV export would be really useful.

I don't believe the software supports CSV export, which is odd because it will import from that format. One solution to get the job done would be to use a converter tool or local email client to import from vCard and then export to CSV.

  • Can you please increase the message attachments limit ? 5MB is much too low.

For example: My Opera Mail allowed up to 50 MB.

    (;

  • @raffael.ammann:

    Hi

Does anybody know how to create a new folder in Vivaldi Webmail?

    Thanks for help!

You must go to settings, then click on folders and you will see a +-symbol in a line at the bottom under the existing folders,

Click on the + an create a new folder πŸ˜‰

  • These are just a suggestions about the mobile version of the Vivaldi Mail.
    –------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Phone: SAMSUNG Omnia i900
    OS: Windows Mobile 6.5.3
Browser: Opera Mini 5.1 Final (same goes for Opera Mobile 10 Final)
    –------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would write you, but instead i made pictures (screenshots), so you'll pretty much get the point from the pictures what i am trying to say (or suggest).
So far i manage to find this things, but if i find something new, i will write it.
Hope some of the web masters, or owners of this site, or technical crew can see it and do something about it.
Ok, here goes the pictures (not in a particular order):

  • The FastMail / My Opera Mail UI is just the best i've ever seen. The structure is perfect, e-mails are in the center and the whole design is build around the mails. The lines for the mails are wide and everything looks clear and on the right place. And it works so smooth.

Funny fact is, that My Opera Mail had a better color scheme then FastMail, FM has only very cold themes and it looks very Facebook-like.
My Opera Mail was simple but warm.

Maybe you can switch from Roundcube to Fastmail Vivaldi ? Make a deal πŸ˜‰
That would be the the best scenario, Vivaldi domain uses FastMail software with servers in iceland ❀

Yes, but as far as i know, Fastmail is a payed email service, its not a free one as MyOpera, Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail and many others, so for me that is NO GO. Why should i pay for email service? Vivaldi mail have a big potential, but they need to work a little bit on their UI.
So, what do you thinking guys about my suggestions above this post? I would not mind if we have the MyOpera Mail mobile UI in our new beloved Vivaldi mail πŸ™‚

It was not always a paid service, the free accounts disappeared only a few months ago.

I loved always the desktop version of My Opera Mail too.
But in the end, FastMails / My Opera server are in New York and Vivaldi is in iceland and i want to support the safety policy of this country.

Maybe they can even cooperate, i know that many FastMail users want that the server move to Europe πŸ˜‰

  • Could be I've simply missed it, but is there a button in the mail app to get back to the main page, or forum, or wherever you want to? I thought the V next to vivaldi.net would do that, but it does not. Thank you!

  • Can we expect more skins ? Here are some:

    http://roundcubeskins.net/portfolio/

I think the theme "iClassic" should be the standard theme, it's nice and neutral and don't have this facebook-coloring.

I personally love the theme "Bravo", it would be so much better when it were not blue.

"Corporate" looks also very nice and and offers other colors than the rest.

Under the Vivaldi logo is a arrow for that πŸ˜‰

  • Thank you very much, Telegram!

  • @Vivaldi Mail Team

There should be an option if you want to use a display name for you mails or not.
I personally don't want to use a name, but the account forces me to choose a name.

    Can you make it optional?

  • I just configured my email client and sent a test mail. Looking at the delivered message, the 'Received' header in the email shows how mail.vivaldi.net received it from my hostname and IP address 😞

My other email account elsewhere doesn't show that info in the headers. Can you fix this?

This information is normally in full email headers and arguably this is a good idea to be able to trace the source of fake or abusive emails. It is not peculiar to vivaldi.net.

  • 😞 Disappointing. I thought this service might be privacy-conscious.

  • Communication does not seem to be Vivaldi's strength
