Keep getting black screen with Java icon on it, can refresh but comes back in minutes
-
When browsing Facebook or Gmail, For no apparent reason, I get a black screen inside the window with a Java icon in the middle. I reload the page and it goes away, but comes back a minute or two later. Very random. Started yesterday. Not aware of any updates in the past few days. Windows 10, Vivaldi 1.9.818.50 (Stable channel) (64-bit). Please help. I will try Chrome to see if it happens there too.

@TrekJunky Do you use any extensions?

Only one: Avast Online Security
-
@Ayespy I deleted the Avast Extension and it still happens. I tried a new game and it happens EVERY time during the loading of the game at the same spot. Facebook game called Star Trek Timelines. I tried Firefox which has a dozen extensions including the Avast extension and it works flawlessly. When is the next update of Vivaldi?
-
@TrekJunky Any day now.

So, I updated to 1.10, but still have the same problem. What can I do? Please help. I tried Vivaldi 1.10 on Linux and the game played fine. It was someone else's computer which I no longer have access to.

@TrekJunky Disable or enable hardware rendering.

I have Catalyst 15.11.1 and I do not want to update it because I have Diablo III which requires this version of video driver. I could not find a rendering setting. Why does Firefox work fine without changing the rendering setting?
-
@Ayespy
I did a little research to see if the problems with upgrading the video driver have been fixed with the latest driver and it seems so, so I am updating the video driver right now. I'll report whether this fixed my problem or not. -
@Ayespy
I have installed the automatically detected driver for my AMD Radeon HD 5700 which is currently 15.7.1 which is actually a downgrade. I tested it with my facebook game and vivaldi and got the same error page. -
Hi, use F2 and search for "hardware".
First result is hardware acceleration setup, switch it off.
Switch off background apps too.Cheers, mib
-
@TrekJunky chrome://settings/search#a and then when the page comes up, search "hardware" from the search box at the top.

Hello All, I switched off both acceleration and apps, and closed then reopened Vivaldi. Still same problem
-
Can anyone duplicate this problem? Windows 10, Vivaldi 1.10.867.38 (Stable channel) (32-bit) and Vivaldi 1.10.867.38 (Stable channel) (64-bit) Game:Facebook Star Trek Timelines

@TrekJunky I don't do games. Perhaps one of our gamers can try...

After trying you suggestion, I still have the same problem. Is there anything else to try? Please help. Vivaldi is great and I don't want to give it up because of a simple problem. Has anyone else seen anything like this?

@TrekJunky You're the only one I've seen report it so far. Did you file a bug report?

I just did file a bug report. How long does it usually take to get back to someone?
-
@TrekJunky It takes an hour or two to get an automated response. Usually, that is all you will ever get. The bug-tracker is closed, so only privileged users can access it.
You have done your part. Just wait for the developers to do theirs.

You mean I will not be notified when the bug is fixed?
