@marger: Yeah it's gone for me too, but now I get 527 points on HTML5 test compared to 518 on the last snapshot. xD
-
@wattsvilleblues: Hi, the IGN video issue has been confirmed, and is under investigation, apparantly not an easy task though, hang in there!
-
I have one remaining very minor bug: when I have the Speed Dial set as my start page, I see the following:
-
Open a new tab (e.g. with Ctrl+T)
-
Use the mouse gesture to open an additional new tab.
-
Another new tab opens (as expected) but the mouse context menu has appeared (not desired because I have to close the menu before I can type in the address field).
The same when I have opened two speed dials and then I close one using the Close Tab gesture.
I think I noticed some improvements in this build (e.g. mouse gesture beginning on a speed dial entry no longer drags the speed dial entry), so it's getting ever closer to perfection. Thanks!

@Steffie Sometimes Vivaldi also varies the UI styling by platform to make it fit in better with the native OS. An example of this is the gradient style that's applied to the tab/title bar: On the Mac, it's vertical; on Windows, IIRC, it's horizontal. It looks like you're using Native Windows. I wonder... does that setting have any effect on how animations are rendered?
-
@steffie: completely OT: I enjoy reading your comments no matter what they are about. Your writing is entertaining and fresh. Thank you, Steffie for that littlesomething on this forum! (scnr)

@xyzzy Yes i am using NW, & this is not negotiable for me, hence i've now reached the point where my curiosity is overtaken by practicality. As i am not interested in running V without NW [many reasons; won't bore you with them], i decided not to even do the experiment now. The outcome would be either that your inspired guess is correct [but then i couldn't "use" the result anyway], or conversely that also doesn't make stunning animations magically appear for me [ie, current status quo]. It seems i am far less excited about tab animations than others, so i'm happy to just give up at this point. Thanks.
-
@Fendar Well, that is most kind of you; thank you.
-
@Steffie I have no problem with native windows. I actually prefer that the UI have a native look-and-feel.
I was simply curious if that made a difference rather than proposing a fix. On macOS, most of the animations are so subtle that you don't really notice them (and I think that's the idea) until you hit a situation where the animation rendering can be slightly janky. I'm totally fine with them on or off. Rest assured that you're not missing out on any mind blowing experience.
-
@luetage: I think you'll find it's called "macOS"
-
@electricduck yep, the blog has been fixed by now, that's why I pointed it out initially
-
@steffie: Yeah, you're right... Let's pretend I put "or transgender, asexual, nogender, alien or whatever I need to add for political correctness' sake..." there as well
-
@Steffie That sucks I haven't booted into Linux for a while, but I think that could be it. I love Linux, so I hope they catch up on it. Same for Mac if they're missing it, cause Mac is all about eye candy.
-
@pesala: I must be blink but I can't see anything like you described to edit/delete posts. I even disabled any blocking/filtering extensions and reloaded the page.....
-
@marekano Maybe you blinked
It might also be a feature of the forum designed to stop spammers and trolls. You now have 3 reputation points, which might be enough to let you edit posts. If you cannot edit posts, you should surely see the blue vertical dots anyway.

@D0J0P This Vivaldi snapshot on macOS has tab animations. You certainly notice the difference when you switch between Vivaldi 1.9 and Vivaldi 1.10.
-
@xyzzy That's good to know. That only leaves Linux without tab animations apparently.

I have the same issue since around 1.06. When I type something in the address field I don't get any suggestions (they are turned on). Also when I type a certain address, say vivaldi.com, and press enter, nothing happens. I have to leave a couple of spaces after a url (vivaldi.com␣␣␣) to make it work. These bugs disappear after ~5 minutes of browsing.
I was lazy to report it before as I was using chropera -
@Barys What sort of hardware is this on?
-
@D0J0P , @Steffie , @xyzzy I'm on Manjaro 17.0.1 and tab animations are working here. They're usually quite smooth, but sometimes do behave as described by D0J0P. They work both with and without native window decorations. My hardware is older:
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 235e @ 2x 2.7GHz
GPU: Gallium 0.4 on AMD RS780
I'm using the open source drivers for my graphics card, and I've artificially limited my CPU to a maximum of 1.9GHz to help prevent my system from overheating.Hardware obviously does play a role in how well animations are rendered, but these are very simple animations that, in theory, shouldn't require fancy, cutting edge gadgets in order to display properly. My setup should be more than enough... which leads me to believe the animations are simply buggy and will improve with time. But since they are usually very smooth and work they way I assume they're intended to, I don't mind.
-
@Tiamarth It sounds like they're pretty smooth for you. Usually animations for things like the panel have been buttery smooth for me since they've ironed out those animations back in 1.3 or something. But tab animations are pretty sluggish half the time, and sometimes smooth, so I'm hoping they work on them before the stable release of 1.10, and I've got mid-range hardware.
WillyYu, we're counting on you!
