Docked Developer Tools – Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.10.829.3
-
@Peter I run three windows all maximized in one sessions. Restarts open them all maximized. W10 64bit.
-
This screwed up the speed dial for me.
It used to be that holding the right mouse button wouldn't move my tiles, but now if I try to do a mouse gesture while the startpage/speed dial is open, it just end up moving my tiles all over the place, it's ridiculous. Can we just have an option that whichever button Gestures are bound to, don't affect the speed dial in the least? Be it Deleting a tile, refreshing it or moving it? -
@TetraSky You are a long time user by looking at your post history, you surely know Vivaldi Team always aim at fixing new issues and regressions, like you should know that EVERY snapshot has some regression or new bugs here and there. I too noticed a couple of things misbehaving but it's just how it goes. Calm down, use bugreports and wait for it, in the mean time, try to not use gestures on the speed dial, what are you doing them there for what?

It still does for me.Since you should know that software under development has numerous bugs and issues, you should take a bit more care with it. Mouse Gestures use the RMB, so use the LMB for moving speed dials.
-
@Pesala that's actually the new issue, SD thumbs now move also with the RMB

Also is it just me or has the performance of dragging speed dial tiles around been improved immensely? Before movement was jerky, now it's completely smooth on the machine that exhibited the behaviour.
Yes!!! Finally this bug is gone!

Yes, very fast! One of our Vivaldi users, WillyYu helped to enhance the speed in UI.
Good job, WillyYu

This is fantastic! Docked Developer tools was the major thing missing for all us developers here! Thank you!
I see there is still some work to be done and it looks kind of sluggish but at least is on it's way. Finally!
-
@mtaki14 It is no coincidence, in fact the Speed Dial animation mechanism was re-written to rid of long-standing bugs and to improve response. We’re glad it is noticeable!
-
@Steffie I reinstalled again, just out of interest, and had 60 pop ups to approve/reject site certificates/
Since spending the next hour working through them seemed a bit of a waste of time, I uninstalled it fairly quickly & fired Vivaldi up again.
If I need a second browser I'll use Chrome, but Vivaldi's the all-in one customisable browser. -
@miky Any ideas on how to edit Speed Dial sites?
I want to replace one of the early ones out of 50 odd.
Happy May Day -

I'm well aware that there are issues and regression coming up with each snapshots. I'm just hoping they fix it by the next snapshot instead of dragging it out for months because it's not high on the priority list.(Like how your current active tab may suddenly just close when you do a simple and quick right click in a text field, to correct a mistake using spellcheck, this has been an issue since Vivaldi first came out and while the amount of times it happens has decreased significantly since, it still happen)
As for why I'm using gestures there, it's not rare that I want to close a tab and instead of doing the close tab gesture, it would just do the New tab gesture, so then I try to close this new tab(speed dial) with the close tab gesture. (I had that problem even with Opera 12 and Firefox with Firegesture, happens when I open multiple tabs or try to close many tabs using the close tab gesture over and over again, I'm assuming it's due to lag spikes from my computer) -
@andyraisbeck: Speed Dial is a Bookmark file. Just go to the Bookmark Panel or the Bookmark Editor (linked at the top of the Speed Dial/Startpage page) and edit it.

Closing the tab, creating a new tab, moving to the next/previous tab. Quite a lot of possibilities seeing one can associate pretty much any action to mouse gestures.

I'm another developer who is really happy that Developer Tools is finally dockable. Is there a way to add a Developer Tools button/icon to the status bar? If not, I would like to see this added.
-
@hulebjoern You can assign a shortcut or mouse gesture.
-
@pesala: Thank you for your reply. I'm aware of the keyboard shortcuts. Actually, it already has one assigned by default, but the difference is, is that a keyboard shortcut has to be committed to memory while a status bar icon does not... The same way that you can open a new tab with Ctrl + T, but there still is a button for it at the top.

@hulebjoern
Don't worry, Jón, the CEO, has already requested it VB-27993 -
Oh thanks a lot for that, I was waiting for dockable developer tools to test Vivaldi again . Not being able to dock devtools was one of the main problems stopping me from using Vivaldi as my main browser, the only one I can remember now.
